Answer: Hi there,
you can find that bubs under the care of a Paediatrician start solids earlier than many other bubs, not say this is always the case. You may find the best thing to do is follow your baby’s lead and look for signs that he is ready (which is likely to be now or very soon).

So, look for a number of signs of readiness, such as:
- Baby is able to hold head up well (so that the throat is clear for the passage of food).
- Bab can sit unaided.
- Baby’s tongue doesn’t poke out as much, which shows they are able to chomp over simply suck food in.
- Baby shows clear interest, such as practicing chomping motions with their mouth while they watch you eat.

Once you see a number of these, and in particular the top 3, then you might like to give solids a go. Great starter foods include avocado (because it has similar fats to breastmilk) and then sweet potato (as it is low GI). Trial each new food for about three days. Once you have those two under your belt, you can add baby rice cereal to one of them and trial that. Baby rice cereal can be a bit bland on its own, and most are high GI, so not overly sustaining. It can be a good idea to get a couple of other foods on the list, which you can then add the cereal to (this can also increase acceptance). While you are getting ready for the big day, I have some tip sheets on Huggies on starting solids and also a book that might help with solids, the links are:

Solids

Book club
http://www.huggies.com.au/benefits/book-club
(it is at the end as the books are listed in alphabetical order)

Plus a great little fridge chart I did with Organic Bubs on solids on my

site: www.sneakys.com.au under the nutrition resources page.

I hope that is helpful!
Have lots of fun with the solids, it’s a great time for the whole family and fingers crossed that the reflux disappears.
All the best
