HI
My son is almost five months old and im wondering if he is ready for solids. He loves to watch us eat and often he will move his mouth while he watches, like he is eating. He will grap at food and when i offer him a spoon he opens his mouth he has also started to grizzle more frequently after feeds. I have just found out he has relux and this is the reason he is a bit more grizzly and not sleeping as well at night, i think he is more hungry rather than in pain though. I have tried offering him a little bit of banana on a spoon and he took it and swallowed it. Do you think i should start him on solids?
if your bub is holding his head up well and making chomping motions, plus his tongue-extrusion reflex (where he pokes his tongue out) is diminishing then by all means it sounds like he is ready.
If you would some info on how to make a great start, I have some tip sheets on Huggies on starting solids and also a book that might help with solids, the links are:
