Are prawns safe to eat while pregnant?

So far I have been good, and have not touched anything that is even remotely risky food-wise. But it is my birthday in a couple of weeks, and I am wanting to indulge in my favourite food - prawns. If I buy them frozen from the supermarket, cook them the same day and eat them hot, will they be safe? Or do I need to just suck it up and eat something else? Thanks!

Answer: Hi there,
no a few carefully prepared prawns should be fine. Like you say as long as you are vigilant with the hygiene then you should be fine to enjoy a treat for your birthday, ultimately it is your decision.

If you needed a little more info on food during pregnancy I have a tip sheet on Huggies, the link is below (though it sounds like you are well on top of it):

Have a great night out, bon appetite
