He has been having apple & pear with rice cereal for breakfast, veges & fruit for lunch and veges followed by fruit for tea. Is it a problem having too much fruit?
there are two points here to consider.
Firstly, that baby is having five dirty nappies a day is not necessarily an issue. Many babies will pass stools quite soon after a meal. The important point is to check if baby is growing at a consistent rate and then this will indicate if baby is having a problem retaining nutrients and energy.
Secondly, the fruit itself isn’t an issue, however you do need to watch pear and apple, particularly where it is added as a sweetener. Both can cause diarrhoea and contribute to failure to grow. I do tend to recommend avoiding apple based products, or at least ensuring they are not predominant in the days intake. Also, the use of fruit in meals can ‘hook’ that natural preference for sweet tasting foods and potentially lead to fussiness.
