Hi Colby,
I’m sorry that your son is distressed unless feeding. I’m sure that makes it very difficult for you, and it’s likely impacting on his and your sleep as well, making it doubly hard to deal with. Have you spoken with your child health nurse or doctor about the issue? It can be tricky to work out what is going on, but there could be a range of different things that is affecting him and it is recommended that you discuss any concerns with your son’s health professionals – particularly if they are ongoing. If it hasn’t settled, you may like to discuss with your child health nurse or doctor whether issues such as illness, food sensitivity (such as cow’s milk, soy, wheat or gluten), gastro-oesophageal reflux, or (if you are breastfeeding) lactose overload, or over/under supply, or some other issue could be a possibility. It is important that you know what is going on i.e. get a diagnosis, before you begin any treatments or make any changes.
Hopefully Jane can give you some further ideas, but in the meantime, please talk to your medical health professionals, and I hope he feels more comfortable soon.
