Itchy right nipple
My right nipple becomes itchy and uncomfortable towards the end of a feed. It is only like this whilst my 4 week old is feeding no other times. I dont think its thrush and my nipple appears normal with no discolouration, lumps or abnormalities. This is my first child.

You could have thrush on your nipples and/or milk ducts. Either way a review by your GP, CHN or a lactation consultant will confirm this. You could also speak with a pharmacist about using some anti-fungal cream to apply on the nipple after and between feeds. Check the user instructions regarding use during lactation. Make sure you change your breast pads frequently, air your nipples when you can, wear a clean bra everyday and check your baby’s mouth for any white plaques or patches which could indicate they have oral thrush.
Another possibility is that the baby is clamping down on the nipple when feeding, so check for correct attachment and sucking and swallowing patterns. Again, a check and observation feed by your CHN would be useful.
