Answer: You don’t say whether your baby is breast or bottle fed, it’s uncommon for breastfed babies to become constipated. It’s not the frequency of the pooing which means a baby is constipated but the consistency eg how hard the poo is. So if your baby’s poos are dry, hard and pebbly then this is a sign that he is constipated and you may need to give him more milk, be more careful about how you’re preparing his formula (if he’s formula fed), perhaps give him less solids or even cease them until he’s pooing normally again. Rice cereal can be constipating so can an introduction to solids so be patient, you may need to make his solids more pureed and soft with added milk or water.
