Will he need me to go to him several times a night forever?

I have a four month old who has silent reflux but we have it under control and its not causing him any dramas. He has 5 feeds a day with his last being a 10pm dream feed. He wakes up to four times per night and needs us to resettle him be it rewrap or put a dummy in and usually goes back to sleep easily. We went to a private clinic Whispers Cottage when he was 6wks old who helped us set his day and sleep routine which works very well and sounds the same as what you recomend. My question is will he need me to go to him several times a night for ever and should he be sleeping through the night by now. He doesnt seem to want a feed during the night and is happy to go till his 6am feed. WHat should we do.

Answer: Hi,
He may be relying on the dummy for comfort and you may need to get rid of it. Don`t expect a baby to sleep right through until about 6 months so you may well still have to offer one overnight feed. We don`t recommend a 10pm rollover feed until 6 months I would not be offering a dream feed but letting him go and just offering the one later feed. Always make sure you resettle baby awake into the cot after feeding.
