Hi, I am currently pregnant with bub number 7. I have had 5 vaginal deliveries, all induced by the GP-for conviencance I think-our last bub was induced at 37wks & after "failing to progress" I ended up having a c-section. I have only had one complication excepting the last bub, with bub number 3, a PPH, as he was born quickly & I wasn't needled in the thigh. I am 169 cm tall & 135kg.
My problem is, our local hospital doesn't do birthing, our next towns hospital only takes low risk. So I have been reffered to Rocky which is 5 hours away. The Ob there has told me I can book an elective C-Section & stay 5 days, plus be out of action when I get home, or I can VBAC & get out in 2 days, but I would have to be there 4 weeks before my EDD.
I am so frustrated that I told Hubby I am thinking about waiting till the last minute then going to the next towns hospital in labor. The only thing that makes me worry is it can take up to an hour for them to get a surgical team ready if things go bad.
Have you got any advice? How likely would it be for me to suffer a uterine rupture?? The Ob just keeps ignoring my questions. Thanks
I am sorry that you have to face all of these decisions during your pregnancy. You should be able to have a VBAC and do it close to where you live and without risk. If your local hospital has low risk births there is still access to maternity care so this would be a good option. Hopefully you will be able to access this as your pregnancy progresses and everything is without complication. Otherwise you may have to travel from your home to where you can access maternity care. You are at low risk of complication so more than likely everything will go well with you and the baby.
Best wishes,
Alex.
