Answer:
I understand from your email that you’ve not stopped bleeding since you had your baby in November, is this right? If so, you really do need to see a doctor. After birth, it is normal to bleed for up to 6 weeks but any clots or heavy blood loss needs to be checked out. Constant bleeding, for months as I think you’re describing is often a sign that there are still bits of the placenta and perhaps the membranes retained in the uterus. Sometimes the cervix remains open too which puts mothers at risk of infection.
Do see your doctor or if this is difficult, contact the midwife or clinic where you went for ante-natal care. Sometimes it’s necessary to have an ultrasound to help diagnose what’s happening and then antibiotics if an infection is present. Some women need to have a currette to clear out any retained products.
If the blood loss has any odour, you’re passing clots and you’re worried (which I think you must be after all this time), then a check up is important.
