Trying to conceive again

Hi Alex,
I had polycystic ovaries and if an egg was produced it was around day 40 (an egg was only produced occasionally). I had to go through clomid and medication to induce a period for months before I became pregnant with my daughter. I am just wondering whether this is likely to occur again when we decide to try for another baby? Or whether the polycystic ovaries can 'disappear' after pregnancy.
Thanks, J

Answer: Hi,
In the majority of cases your condition will persist and you will need treatment again to conceive. HOwever, if you are now getting regular periods and are not on the pill your body may be starting to have a cycle. Talk to your GP and you may need some blood tests to be sure. For more general information see our section on Female Fertility .
Best wishes,
Alex.
