Hi im Nicky,

Thought I would start a new group for the ladies who's bubs were born and who are being born April and May.

Ive just had my 3rd DS, he was born on the 14th April 2011, weighing 7 pound 4 oz 51 cms long.

Hi I'm Lisa,

I had my 2nd son on April 5th, weighed 9 lb 14 oz, 54cm long.

Where abouts do you live? We're in shakey Christchurch and keen to chat with other mums in chch and see how they're going with all this stress!

Was a bit nerve racking being pregnant for two large earthquakes... more so the feb 22nd one though... I only had 5 weeks to go and all that went through my head was how in september heaps of women went into labour because of the stress. However bubs stayed put till 3 days after due date.

Things seemed to have calmed down here now, the aftershocks are still rolling in and every so often a strong one will have the heart racing. Asides from that I think most of us over here consider ourselves very lucky.

well i gave birth to baby Maja (mya) on the 20th of April (due on the 23 of may) she was 3kgs and 48cms..

nicky how is everything goin with bub?

at the moment i have her on expressed milk as my boobs r huge n she is too small to suck a full feed, she sucks for about 10 mins n then i top her up with the bottle.
her normal feed is 80 ml but last night she just wouldnt go down n wanted more she had another 20ml with in the hour and just cried she has bad wind n its hard to get in a feed within 30mins coz its so hard to burp her sad..but finilly she settled and then woke up 3 hours later n she seems ok now..
she is on day four of being home and i must admit i have gone back to my coke cola habit which i think contributes to her staying awake for a hour after her feeds :/...

today i have sworn off coke and going to start a healthier diet because i can really see how its affecting my milk n her! my poor chicken.

im having alot of probs with my boobs atm she get very blocked and painful and expressing is very hard as it takes a hour after every feed and at 4 in the morning its very draining!
i bought a double electric pump off ebay yesterday so im hoping that it helps more with the blocked ducks then using a hand pump and also hoping it cuts the time in half..


but all and all we feel so blessed to finialy have a bub after so many heart aches.

Marinela, good to hear you and bub are home and going well. Just wanted to let you know you can buy big bottles of caffeine free diet coke! smile smile You prob wont like it if you only drink normal coke, but I drink diet normally anyway, and dont notice the difference without the caffeine..

Ive just had baby number 3. Ella Jade on the 13th April she weighed 9lb1oz and 51cms. So far everything is going great, she feeds and sleeps really well. Fingers crossed she can keep it up!

Hey everyone, its good to see our group is growing, hopefully more will join us as the month goes on.

Marinela- glad everything is going okay, im expressing too as well as breastfeeding, I bf during the day and bottle feed at night, except i dont have any problems expressing, It only takes me about 10 mins to express 100 mls from each boob, I usually feed Justin off one side during the day and keep offering that side even if he has a 10 minute break as he needs the hind milk to help with his jaundice and then i express the other side and freeze it. Ive got so much in the freezer (about 3 litres) and hes not even 3 weeks old, im going to need a whole separate freezer just for my stash! lol. I hope the new pump you have bought helps you heaps more, Ive got an avent electric but i can get more and faster using my manual one so ive packed the electric away and will sell it.
I cant stop eating chocolate and im sure this affects Justin a little, ive been trying to stop but with all the easter eggs we have i just cant help myself. I also had a Kahlua and coke last night, just one though and it was so damn tasty! yum yum.

Hi SSJAE, congratulations on the birth of your baby girl, I love her name, its very sweet. How are you finding it having 3 kids? I find my older two fight like mad!!!! (they are 5 & 2) how are they with her?

I had my third child - Cooper on 26 April he weighed 3.49kg (7pound 11). So far things are going good so i hope they continue that way. Just wondering if you all swaddle your babies as all my kids didnt seem to like it and would try to escape. But i would like for it to work so maybe it is my technique?

i like the caffeine free coke lol but we just tend to buy normal for DH i will have to grab some bottle with our next shop i have a huge headache right now and im still bleeding heaps n lots of clots i guess my body still cleaning out sad

Omg i wish it took 10 mins to express lol i have a avent hand pump n it still takes forever mind u have a great flow i think im just slow n hald asleep lol..i have a huge stash too lol!..Maja jaundice looks like it has gone right down she is looking so much better and feeds alot better im gonna try persist more with BF i normally have a shower b4 i BF and squeeze out the first bit so she can latch on otherwise she cant coz they r way to full..i cant wait until she can just latch on and empty me out!

i still cant believe how many of us in may had bubs in April lol..

i must say im loving life right now im tired as hell but life is just so different we always have the in-laws over and people are starting to pop in to see bub. im just loving the atmosphere and love feeling all the love n warmth in the house if that makes sense

YES!!! He can keep himself awake most of the day. But I was told that was to do with the reflux cos his little tummy is hurting. However after just 3 days on baby gaviscon and he's becomeing a different boy, so much more content.

Can't beleive he's 4 weeks tomorrow time seems to be flying by sooo quickly.

Kates joy congrats on the birth of your little Cooper, my oldest son is named Cooper, such a cool name!! I have swaddled all my babies, although Justin can quite happily sleep with his arms loose but i swaddle him at night time, I just fold a blanket or muslin wrap in half then put him in the middle of it so his neck is in line with the top of the material, then I put both his arms across his chest and fold one side over and tuck it underneath him then fold the other side over, if you have trouble I have these wraps called ergo cocoon and they are a zip up so bubs cant get out at all, they are from baby road (WA) and cost $29.95, you can find them on ebay.

I will have to grab some caffiene free coke too, Justin was soooo unsettled last night and its no wonder, i had 2 big glasses of pepsi max, soooo much chocolate too, he just would not go to sleep last night in between feeds, so its safe to say i wont be having any chocolate today and see if that was the reason, my bet it is.
Justin stays awake sometimes too after he feeds, he can be quite alert too, once hes been up for a bit I then feed him more and he usually goes back to sleep while feeding.

Im really enjoying breastfeeding, am im quite proud of myself that I still am doing it considering I gave up day 2 with my 1st and hardly even tried with my 2nd, its good to know hes back to his birthweight too now so I must be doing something right.

Justin has got his hearing test today and while im there im getting my scar checked, its been bleeding and there is a black patch in the scar part, I dont know if its dried up blood or an infection, its still quite stingy too, especially if I sneeze or cough.

My baby is called Coopeer too... didn't think it was such a popular name... super cool name though isn't it smile

breast feeding is hard work!! so i have BF her and for the first time i think i dont have to top her up she is settled!! but for how long only time will tell im hoping it will last her for at least two and a half hours...
i am really scared she will become bottle dependent so i want to get her to BF only no matter how many times i have to feed her im gonna persist...dam i havnt even finished typing n i think she is gonna crack it grrrr!!

I'm going through the same thing... trying to get Coop to settle after just breast. I got told by plunket that even though they feel like they are empty my boobs probably aren't so I'm trying to do both sides twice and on the second time round he may be comfort sucking but that doesn't matter because he is srimulating milk production. We seem to be doing less and less formula after each feed. I need to get out of the bad habit of doing a bottle at the 4.30/5.00am feed. I do that because I'm so tired I don't want to sit up straight and feed him, he won't latch if I lie down sad

Marinela, are you topping her up with formula or breastmilk?? just make sure that everytime you give her a bottle you express as well,even if you only get a little bit or it takes you ages because your body needs to think its feeding a baby so you need to keep your supply up and if you skip a feed by not expressing then your body wont make any more milk and will only make what your bub is feeding when you breastfeed her.

What bottles are you guys using?? When i bottle feed Justin at night I use Avent (have used these with all my boys) but he makes this sucking sound while he drinks, which means he's not getting a good latch and is sucking in air, Ive tried the closer to nature tommee tippee bottles too but he does the same with that, so im not sure whether to maybe try the NUK brand, its so hard isnt it, i dont want to waste money but i dont want him sucking in air either!!

Justin was easy to settle last night because i didnt have any pepsi max or chocolate all day so it was obviously the caffeine keeping him awake, well at least i know now and will limit my intake.

after my last post she woke up and cracked it n i gave her a bottle!! i have had two hours sleep i swear as much as i wanted to BF i think i give up!! im so tired sad...im still going to give her breast milk but it will just be in a bottle i feel bad but i just cant do it im so mentally exhuasted and she hasnt even been home for a week.

my boobs r still killing me they get so lumpy once they r full i dont fully express them coz im just so tired in the the middle of the night and by the morning even with breast pads i have leaked everywere..we ended up having a really bad night and im in a horrible mood which is not like me..

i have been snapping at DH even tho he hasnt done anything wrong sad so i have come to the conclusion that if she still gets Breast milk even if its in a bottle it will do coz i need some sort of sleep sad

im convinced Maja is colic its getting worse to the point it took her 2 and half hours to settle yesturday and normally she is a happy baby gose right to sleep sad ....i gave in to the dummy and put on lullybys seems to work ...im going to the chemist today after i register her birth.. but was just wanting some opinions plz sad

marinela- please dont feel bad about putting her on the bottle full time, if shes getting breastmilk still then that is the great!!! and if you end up putting her on formula then thats fine too, dont stress yourself out about it because it will only make you feel worse, plus stress = less milk supply and happy mummy = happy bub! dont worry okay, we all go through these decisions. I put DS1 on formula at 2 days old and it was the best decision i ever made, I was alot more calmer and confident in feeding him and he was much happier too. DS2 I expressed for 6 weeks and then put him on formula, I was proud of the fact that he had my milk for 6 weeks and i was then happy to switch him to formula. Do what you feel is right okay and dont let anyone make you feel bad about it.

Now about the colic, what bottles are you using?? I have always ALWAYS used avent bottles for my kids, BUT Justin sucks in waaaaay too much air using them, like he cant get a seal around the teat and he is unsettled after using them, so I tried a Tommee Tippee closer to nature and the same thing happened so i went and bought the new NUK first choice bottles and they are the best!!! the teat moulds into Justins lips so there is no air taken in whatsoever and he is much easier to settle afterwards, you could also try raising the head end of Maja's bassinet or cot, this is what i do, I just shove a folded towel under the mattress so he sleeps on a slight angle just so his milk isnt coming back up and causing reflux, have you tried swaddling Maja? or not swaddling her? putting her on her side to sleep? ( I know 'they' say this isnt recommended but sleeping on their side was the only way my boys would go to sleep) i just use one of the roll pillows behind them so they cant move.

thanks heaps hun yeah i was using the avent ones which r rubbish they leak! then i recieved these bottles with my electric breast pump which im using and seem ok but she put air in the bottle too..i swaddle her coz she seems more comphy that way..i went to the chemist and got her a gripe water which ill try during the night because it seem the only time she is stressed is at night..i have the breast feeding consultant coming to my house tomorrow so ill see how i go..i know what u mean at the end of the day ill do what ever is easier for the both of us for me as long as she on breast milk i dont care how she gets it..ill have a look for those bottle were did u buy them?

her reflux is that bad just the wind wish me luck for tonight xoxo

I got the bottles from chemist warehouse but they sell them at pretty much all chemists, they are the first choice wide neck bottles, have a look on their website, just google NUK bottles and it will come up. They have cute designs on the bottles too.

i had the breastfeeding lady come in today and little miss fed really well for the first time!! and she woke up 4 hrs later after her feed! then i had the inlaws come over so i gave her a bottle and it only held her two hours! then gave her another bottle then again two hours! then BF and bang 4 hrs she slept! lol so its 4 am and i BF her lol im hoping it holds her 4 hrs again lol

I went to the library yesterday and borrowed the book "all you need to know about breastfeeding" started reading it and its really good, maybe you should check it out, it gives me the confidence to keep breastfeeding.

My name is Chantelle and had my son Kaeden on the 28 April at 9.11am,weighing 3120g,50cm length,33cm hc.It's been a week today since i've been home and coping ok so far.Oh yeah had a c/sect so still sore but keeping up with pain relief and can't wait til i'm up and about properly.Also have quite bad fluid retention in my feet/ankles

she judt showed me how to latch her on properly like to curve the nipple correctly which made a world of difference!..i havnt used a bottle since and she is still sleeping 4 hrs which is fantastic. i know they say BF babies should be fed at least 8 times a day but she is just to full to have any more then her 6 a day maybe once she gose through her growth spurts she will eat more but she seems so much happier she might have one burp in her whole feed she is less crampy i can really see the difference in her behaviour and im so happy

jaxon arrived buy emergency c/sec on 1-5-11 at 7:33am weighted 7pound 7oz 50cm long.he had a bad start to the world he stoped brething then had to go to PMH(children hospital)becuase he had fluid in his lungs but was brought back to me the next day he did recoved very fast i finaly got to meet my little man the next day and it was the most rewarding part on the hole pregancy

i feel kinds down about having to have a c/sec because he was breech..but it was the safest way to being him in to this big world.
im recovering quicker then i though i would.but i would never have a c/sec agen if it was up to me

im bf jaxon and its going pritty well my boobs were so sore and full the first couple day but have settled down alot witch is good.i was going to give up from the pain on my boobs and the c/sec i wasnt copping to well with all the pain.but im glad i didnt give up .he sleeps good for us he waking up about every 2/3 hours at night but i cant tell if he awake cozz he dont cry he just makes noices. iv very lucky to have such a good baby ( agen) but i better not jinx my self
my nipples are still sore and craked but using cream for that
will have to go read all the comments to catch up everyone else
