Hi,

My little man, Noah, was born on the 20th Sept 8 days past his due date. He was born via c section and was 7lb 11 and 50.5cm long.

I also have DS 1 who is 2 years and 3 months old. My DH has just gone back to work so it has been fun trying to juggle the 2 boys!

Hope everyone is travelling well and getting some sleep.

Hi Ladies

My little girl was born on 5th September (4 days early) due to an induction as i had high bile salts in my liver and blood pressure was high!

She finally came out with the help of a vaccume and she was prosterier (face up) she weighed 7"9 and was 51 cm long

Id like to know what you girls think about letting bub cry it out every now and then. Our bub will go to sleep on her own a fair bit but we get days where she wants to only sleep on us and when we put her down she cries, if we pick her up she stops so we know there is nothing wrong expect her being a bit clingy. we want to stop this asap so we are trying the cry it out method.. she can cry for like 10 mins or maybe longer. I go in every 5 mins to settle and put her back down and walk out. She does eventually go to sleep but i just want to know what all you other mothers are doing???
My gorgeous daughter Eliza was born on the 23rd September, 4 days early as my blood pressure also went up and I had an induction. She also finally came out with the help of a vaccume after 12 hrs as she was posterier as well!! Good to hear of someone in a similar situation. She also came out with a big ring on her head and broken skin around the ring that has taken 4 weeks to heal. She was 7"12 and 51 cm long.

Hi ladies

My little DD2 was born 21st Sept via elective c section. Everything was perfect as she was 6p 9oz (2.9kg) and 50cm. Her big sister is 2.5yrs and adores her. smile

She is the most placid baby ever. Hardly ever cries so when she does it's when something is really bothering her like wind and she has had a bit of a cold for the last week. Sleeping well at night and breast feeding is going great this time. I breast fed DD1 successfully but with the usual difficulties, but this time nothing. Have really had it easy.

As for the crying to sleep I have never done it but I know it works for some people. With mine I will just put her in the bassinett when she is clingy (sleeps and settles when picked up, but wakes when put down) and will stay there and pat her and hum or sing to sooth. This usually happens when she is held by visitors all day.

With DD1 I ended up using a dummy as I thought I was going to go insane otherwise and this worked a treat. DD2 doesn't cry so will usually just lie there grunting and kicking until she goes to sleep.

It is hard with your first as you don't know what to do but just do what works. It's not going to hurt her to cry for a bit, especially when you are feeling frustrated and need a break. (Please don't kill me for saying that smile, not wanting to start a crontrol crying debate )

Our little girl came into the world on the 26th of September I was induced 3 weeks early due to pregnancy induced hypertension. We Called Her Mischa Louise and she was 8 pound 5 1/2 and was 50 cm.

She has two older brothers Ben 3 1/2 and Jaiden who will be two next week

congrats!!
My DS Kellim was also born on the 2nd of september. he was born 15 days late. hes holding his head up now and can also roll from his tummy to bak. but i dont think u should compare them as your bubs was born a little bit early and DS could hold his head pretty well from birth. i think cause he was so overdue.
every baby starts doing things at different times. if ur unsure may ask ur plunket nurse or GP.
im not sure when they are meant to start doin these things but i did think DS was starting early.
My little man Max was born via c-section on the 23rd Sept weighing 7lb 14oz (3.58kg) and 54cm long.

I am a first time mum and he is a good little boy for me most of the time. He only wakes once a night now and feeds like a trooper. He is stacking on the weight, weighed in at 6.3kg at his last check up when he was 7 weeks.
Hi smile

My little girl, Isabeau, graced the world with her presence on her due date 19/9/11. She weighed 8lb 1oz (3.66kg) and was 52cm long.

My son was born 22nd September. I was induced 5 days after my due date as I was informed he was a very large baby. However after just under 2 and a 1/2 hours after labour started (them breaking my waters) he was only 8lb 2oz. Unfortunately about an hour after he was born I was rushed to theater as I started hemorrhaging. Took me three weeks to get back to normal! I also have two other boys aged 7 and 4. He started rolling front to back at 4 weeks and is a very happy wee chap.

Hi My name is Robyn my little girl Bella Jane was born on the 28th of September at 4.09am after a 1 hour and a half of labour. She was a bit of a surprise as she was 5 weeks early. Her due date was the 1st of November but it didnt turn out that was.She was 5 pounds 6 (2550 gms) At the time my husband was in Japan at the time for work so he missed out on the birth which was a bit sad but we got it on tape smile.

This is our first so we got a bit scared when we found out she was going to be early. She spent the first two weeks in the special care nursery on oxygen but she pulled through ok.The nursers were fantastic we learnt alot while she was in the nursery.

Now she is a happy 9 week old baby. smile

My third baby, a girl, born 23rd after a great 3hr labour, no stitches(wooohooo), has wicked bad colic and reflux. After two textbook babies, this has thrown me for a loop. She is 9 weeks and because of all her troubles, we've created bad sleeping habits. I never believed in letting them cry at all, but have tried in the last two days, and she is sleeping better already! (and doesn't seem to hate me). She is great with head control (but all mine were), have not done as much tummy time as I would've liked as she spews then smooches her hair and face all through it. We do it more on our chests. She's rolled a few times and seems to like sleeping best when she has her face in something (side of her papoose, the sheet(facedown), side of me after she feeds in bed, etc...) which gives me a heart attack! So using those wedges to keep her in correct position. We're getting a lot more smiles, chuckles and verbalizations now we've got the reflux sorted (kinda) which is lovely. And her brother and sister love her to bits (maybe too much sometimes). Congrats to all the other bubs born!
i know wat u mean about the crying. i dont like letting DS cry but i think if its protest cryin i just leave him and usually he will setle down by himself sometimes he will start crying more urgently and need help settling.

how is everyone doing??

DS is sleeping between 6-9hours at night and is a catnapper during the day. im tryin to teach him to sleep for abit longer during th day as he feeds 4hourly and wont feed beforehand but will think he wants to be awake then by the time hes ready for a feed will be too tired to feed properly. he started sleeping abit longer.
Hi Ladies

Well i think my little one is going through a growth spurt. wants to eat through the day every 2 hrs today and has been very whingy! Hopefully it will pass.

She sleeps so well at night though so cant complain. smile

We do the crying it out method and she always falls asleep eventually and wakes happy. if we didnt do this we would constantly be holding her and she wouldnt learn to put herself to sleep.

im breastfeeding but have been trying a bottle with expressed milk for the last 3 days, only at one feed, with not alot of success...anyone got any suggestions??? ill just persevere.
mrs2be
Have you tried getting someone else to bottle feed? I found that DD1 wouldn't take the bottle from me at first because she could smell my milk. Also try feeding in a different position. Thats the only suggestions I have other than persevere. smile

My DD2 is going great. She is the dream baby still. Only thing is her night time routine is a bit out of whack as she has her most awake time between 6 and 9pm. Not sure what that is about but she'll get over it.

We are starting the feed, play, sleep routine now but she is such a good sleeper that i'm not sure if it will work. She is still not having much awake play time yet. smile

Can't believe how quick she is growing. She is 10weeks now and weighs 5.5kg. She is a great little feeder. smile

My husband has tried only once and she didnt take to it. But i know we just have to keep trying. I was told to put a bit of warm water in bottle and try with that so i am not wasting my milk.. is this a good idea?
Hi I'm Kristy,
I'm a first time mum to Annika. She was born on the 11th of september (6 days overdue, I was induced) after 21 hours labour and a forceps delivery she was born 10pound 8oz (4.76kg) with a very full head of hair!! So far she has been a great baby (excellent eater and sleeper) hopefully the next one will follow suit (the great baby part not the 10lb 8oz part blink )
Hi everyone, I'm Melissa, 27 and a first time mum. My son Noah was born 8th September 2011 after 15hours of labour, he was 3weeks early and was 7pounds4. I'd love to hear from anyone else looking for someone to chat to smile He is 12 weeks, would love to know how often other mums are feeding their bubs, i'm feeding mine every 3 hours except at night but i've heard another mum feed her baby (3wks younger than mine) feed hers every 4hours. Look forward to hearing from you!!
Mrs2be, I agree with the pp with the only other suggestion that I have is that she may not like the type of teat the bottle has on it. Would you be willing to try a different bottle? It wouldn't hurt to give her a few mls of water but I would try and do it in between feeds as you don't want her to fill up on water.

As for my little man we have been having issues with him not gaining enough weight and have been having to get him weighed evey week. He is feeding well and getting enough milk so am not sure what is going on. Have been seeing a pediatritian but she has not given us a good reason as to why he is not gaining enough weight so far. So we are just pushing on for now.

I have a tommie tippie bottle with the closer to nature teat, i thought that would be the best for a breastfed baby- it really isnt a huge deal if she doesnt take a bottle, i have no problems in fully breastfeeding just wanted to see if she would take a bottle. But, looks like she may go from breast to cup at 6 months, but i will keep trying.
Yeah i am using water only cause i dont want to keep wasting my milk in the bottle, its just to see if she will suck at all and drink, i wont ever let her drink alot of water, if she ever sucks on the bottle i will then express my milk into the bottle.

Now that she is 3 months, for some reason she is waking twice at night even though for the last 4 or 5 weeks she has been sleepng right through the night. Does anyone know what this is about?? I beleive she may be going through a growth spurt, how long do they last?

Hi Melissa,
I feed Isla every 4 hours, sometimes every 3 1/2 hrs, just depends if she starts to get hungry earlier.
I dont think it really matters though, as long as bub and you are happy and bub is gaining weight fine.
