September 2011 Babies Rss

mrs2be
Have you tried getting someone else to bottle feed? I found that DD1 wouldn't take the bottle from me at first because she could smell my milk. Also try feeding in a different position. Thats the only suggestions I have other than persevere. smile

My DD2 is going great. She is the dream baby still. Only thing is her night time routine is a bit out of whack as she has her most awake time between 6 and 9pm. Not sure what that is about but she'll get over it.

We are starting the feed, play, sleep routine now but she is such a good sleeper that i'm not sure if it will work. She is still not having much awake play time yet. smile

Can't believe how quick she is growing. She is 10weeks now and weighs 5.5kg. She is a great little feeder. smile

My husband has tried only once and she didnt take to it. But i know we just have to keep trying. I was told to put a bit of warm water in bottle and try with that so i am not wasting my milk.. is this a good idea?
Hi I'm Kristy,
I'm a first time mum to Annika. She was born on the 11th of september (6 days overdue, I was induced) after 21 hours labour and a forceps delivery she was born 10pound 8oz (4.76kg) with a very full head of hair!! So far she has been a great baby (excellent eater and sleeper) hopefully the next one will follow suit (the great baby part not the 10lb 8oz part blink )
Hi everyone, I'm Melissa, 27 and a first time mum. My son Noah was born 8th September 2011 after 15hours of labour, he was 3weeks early and was 7pounds4. I'd love to hear from anyone else looking for someone to chat to smile He is 12 weeks, would love to know how often other mums are feeding their bubs, i'm feeding mine every 3 hours except at night but i've heard another mum feed her baby (3wks younger than mine) feed hers every 4hours. Look forward to hearing from you!!
Mrs2be, I agree with the pp with the only other suggestion that I have is that she may not like the type of teat the bottle has on it. Would you be willing to try a different bottle? It wouldn't hurt to give her a few mls of water but I would try and do it in between feeds as you don't want her to fill up on water.

As for my little man we have been having issues with him not gaining enough weight and have been having to get him weighed evey week. He is feeding well and getting enough milk so am not sure what is going on. Have been seeing a pediatritian but she has not given us a good reason as to why he is not gaining enough weight so far. So we are just pushing on for now.

I have a tommie tippie bottle with the closer to nature teat, i thought that would be the best for a breastfed baby- it really isnt a huge deal if she doesnt take a bottle, i have no problems in fully breastfeeding just wanted to see if she would take a bottle. But, looks like she may go from breast to cup at 6 months, but i will keep trying.
Yeah i am using water only cause i dont want to keep wasting my milk in the bottle, its just to see if she will suck at all and drink, i wont ever let her drink alot of water, if she ever sucks on the bottle i will then express my milk into the bottle.

Now that she is 3 months, for some reason she is waking twice at night even though for the last 4 or 5 weeks she has been sleepng right through the night. Does anyone know what this is about?? I beleive she may be going through a growth spurt, how long do they last?

Hi Melissa,
I feed Isla every 4 hours, sometimes every 3 1/2 hrs, just depends if she starts to get hungry earlier.
I dont think it really matters though, as long as bub and you are happy and bub is gaining weight fine.

Yeah all babies are different so don't worry about what others are doing. I demand feed my bub so she can go anywhere from 2-4hrs between feeds. On the odd occasion she will go longer than that. At night she usually goes between 6-8hrs. Just go with the flow and your bub will let you know when he is hungry. He should start going longer between feeds as he gets older but also with it getting hotter he may get thirsty inbetween and have a little top up (that's what seems to happen with mine on really hot days). smile

My DS was born 28th September. Induced natural birth a week overdue, 3 hour labour with a 3rd degree tear and loss of 2 litres of blood, not so fun! He was 7lb 4oz and 50cm, had so much trouble breastfeeding for the first 8-10 weeks, finally just got it working well for me. So proud of myself for persevering though it all smile
Hey all. On a side note, anyone gone away for Christmas and NY? Sleep routines have gone out the window.... Kind of makes me not want to go away with such a small bubs, but then the other two will miss out on fun times. Just feel super tired with lack of sleep and doing activities with the kids (while everyone else is partying mind you).... Anywhoo, vent over. Would've been nicety have one 'flexible' baby.
good work felicity. Im also still breastfeeding and my bub was born 9/9/11. (4 months today) i found b/f alot easier at the start and then it got harder. Had mastitis a few times too. last night was the worst so far. had a raging temp and body aches, shivering etc. really considering whether to continue after last nights episode. bub will be starting solids in the next couple of months anyway.. such a tough decision...smile
I am a first time mum.My beautiful baby girl Mylie Rose was born on the 23rd september but wasn't due until the 3rd of October and still managed to be 8lb 1oz
Mt little girl Zali was born on the 7th Sept, 1 day before her due date, much easier birth than the first and a much more relaxed baby over all. I some times leave her to cry a little, generally when she wakes during her day sleep after the 40 min mark, it's a grizzle really and she will go back to sleep most of the time. She started to roll at 9 weeks back to front and has only just started to roll front to back over the last couple of weeks. She has pretty good head control and doesn't mind tummy time at all, so different to my first little man Zane. Truly blessed to have both of them!!!
