Babies from the "Due November 2011" thread Rss

hi all, i've been ckecking in occasionally but never had any time to just sit, relax and coment. Mainly due to the internet is so slow. I've been living with my parents for 3 weeks now, 3 to go (cant wait) but its been better then i thought it would be.

Tomorrow we leave for a weekend away to the beach to celebrate x-mas. its a week early but we have to have it this weekend as my bro has 2 kids to a previous relationship and has a son this weekend, which is the last time we see him until new years so my bro's ex has allowed (by some maricle) my mum to take the other son so we can celebrate x-mas together. she's normally a b**ch and doesnt want the younger ds to even know he has a father and my bro doesnt really want him (very sad story but thats for another day) anyway so we going to celebrate x-mas this weekend with my bro and his kids then next weekend we going to celebrate again with the rest of the family.

Onto Amelia, she is now 5 weeks (tomorrow) and is really well behaved, my boobs are actually becomming full now, she weighs 5.2kgs and still only wakes up at 3am. but she has me wrapped around her little finger and gets me out of bed by 5.45am (little terror).

Its been so hot here, at least 38 degrees and very humid every day sad it sometimes rains in the afternoon, and about a week ago this happened while we went and visited a friend. we got wet getting out of the car and went into the house which had air con on so now amelia has a little bit of a snotty nose sad

KA7747 - i think miss bee is trying to describe the "light/movement and sound monitor" i think they're about $200 from anywhere that sells baby stuff, well worth it if your concerned.

It sounds like BFeeding is starting to become easier for everyone. thats great to hear.

Well i better be off, there is a massive thunder storm outside now and the dogs are going off, but before i go i would like to know

??????????WHAT IS EVERYONE GETTING BUB'S FOR X-MAS????????????

we havent brought her anything because she doesnt need anything but need to get her something from DS and santa. what to get?

hi all,
ka7747, poor ella rose, i know what it's like for them to be all snuffly, fortunately jessica's cold wasn't too bad, but she still had trouble feeding and breathing. there is a product you can get from the chemists (if you're in aus) called fess little noses. the pack comes in a saline spray and what i call a "snot sucker" as after you've sprayed the saline in their nose, you suck the "snot" out with the sucker and clears their nose really well.

jessica has finally started sleeping longer at night now, yay. she goes down anywhere from 8pm to 9pm and wakes around 3am, up for the next hour sad and then sleeps till around 7am. i'm feeling much better for the longer sleeps, if i go to bed early enough tongue she's also growing really well, she put on 600gm and grew 4.5cm in two weeks!! she also loves her big sister and i managed to get some good photos of the two of them mucking around in our bed yesterday.

manda, so far i've got jessica a cuddly toy and a toy that will hang from her pram. i am also probably going to get her a play mat with toys over the top (if you know what i mean) and that will probably be all. i entered a competition on facebook to win $150 worth of toys from playgro, it would be nice if i won it smile

anyways, must go, dp has the day off work so we are going shopping and he is now hounding me to get moving, so better go, catch you all next time
Hi all,

Ella-Rose has had no further breathing breaks but needs saline drops every morning to clear her nose. Hopefully this cold will run its course and she will be bright and happy again.

I have no concerns about her milestones and she is developing well. Smiles are becoming more frequent. This morning her 4 year old brother was right in her face and I was about to tell him off when I realised she was smiling at him. Her brother loves her to death and we cant leave them alone together as he is a bit rough.

Christmas presents hmm, our eldest childs first christmas we spoilt her to bits and all the extended family helped us unwrap her gifts. We have a tradition where each family member gets each other a gift, now there are six of us Ella-Rose has been a real challenge. Of course there is also her stocking to consider. She is getting a soft rattle, a musical snail, clothes (in newborn size), a cute little pair of shoes and stocking fillers of bath toys, dummy and a teething ring. I have tried to get a couple of things where all four kids get matching items. So they are getting some little food containers in different colours and a sandwich holder each. Ella- will eventually use hers once she starts eating in 4 months time.

Our older kids have taken care of their toys so Ella-Rose already has so much to grow into. A great gift could be any of the Einstein range of DVD's or books these are fantastic. Or books 'Peek a boo' is a favourite of our kids. The flaps open to reveal simple faces and they have all loved that one from when they were little. Or the books that name lots of things from around the house or daily life. If you don't already have one what about a toy box, we brought a round pooh bear material one for our eldest and it is still going strong and will be passed onto Ella-Rose in a couple of years. When it comes to toys invest in quality, they last well and have great age recommendations on them. One good quality item is better than heaps of small cheap toys. But you don't have to break the bank and spend $100. Some of the stacking $15 toys do them just as well.

Hi All

yay thats exactly what I meant smile a good investment I rekon if it gives some peace of mind.
Well I'm currently at my parents (6 hours away from home). DP is still working up till xmas eve but his family is here with us too. Its been very difficult with so many people around Jacob gets over stimulated by his grandparents and I get lumped with a grizzley wee man who has missed his nap. I can tell my family straight but am having trouble with the IL's.
But I think its the season for it...
Deep breaths! lol!

Its so nice having people to hold him while I shower/ eat/ etc but I am already looking forward to being back at home just pottering around doing my own thing.

Merry Christmas everyone, hope you enjoy your little ones over the holiday season smile xoxoxoxoxox
thought i'd get on here while i had a chance and wish everyone a safe and merry christmas.

i've been pretty busy baking/creating the last couple of days and won't stop until probably lunch time christmas day. i'm doing dessert and we are going to my parents for lunch and inlaws for dinner, and taking dessert there too. where is everyone else off to for lunch/dinner??

i got the target catalogue today for their boxing day sale, and i've already decided i'm going to go shopping for jessica, looking at her one piece suits over the last couple of days and i've realised, she's just about out of 000's, the chubby girl is growing, she is even having a couple of bottles with 180mls in them!! one of them is her night bottle, and for the last two nights she's had them, she's slept right through smile

which means, i should be off to bed myself, so night all, and merry christmas smile
Hi all, feels like it's been a long time but it really can't have been considering Leilani is only 4 weeks old. 3 days after getting out of hospital we were back there again following an hypoxic episode (stopped breathing). I was giving her a bath when she made a gagging noise, was staring at me wide eyed, mouth open and I realised her chest was not moving. I pulled her out of the water, hoping the cold air might shock her enough to breathe but she was still struggling and starting to turn blue. I blew some quick breaths into her nose and she gave a bit of a cough before she started to breathe again. We called a close friend to watch the other children so that DH and I could get her to hospital to be checked over. En route we had another episode. After being in hospital overnight they decided that her jaundice needed phototherapy so onto the billi blanket we went (a mat made of UV lights that wraps around the naked baby)for 48 hours. They then decided that the hypoxic episode was due to silent reflux that she had inhaled instead of ejecting. We have to keep her upright for a half hour after feeds and sleep her on an incline. This has also helped to settle her and we are getting 7 hours overnight. She's sleeping 10pm-5am.
While back in hospital it gave me the opportunity to try and get my boobs going but they just didn't want to go. She still takes the breast first but starts fussing after five minutes on each side and won't latch again(a sure sign that there's nothing left) and then takes a 120ml bottle. I will do this until her 6 week injections just so I can get some antibodies into her for what it's worth.
For Christmas Leilani is getting some clothes and a new play mat.
Hubby goes back to work just after Christmas so then my challenge will begin in juggling all 5 children (under 5 years) at home by myself as school and preschool are on holidays. Yay for me! Cooking, craft here we come.

OMG, jessi, im so sorry for you being put through that nightmare, i cant begin to imagine the panic sad im glad everything is alright and you managed to get her breathing again. and its great they were able to find a reason as to why it was happening.

I hope everyone had a merry christmas and enjoy their new years eve tomorrow smile

I have tried replying several time in the last week, but everytime i do something happens either the internet turns itself off (stupid sattelite internet), the power goes off (stupid storms) or something happens at home that requires my attention eg Justin gets into something ect.

So heres whats been happening to me lately. Justin decided he didnt want to wear a nappy to bed about 1.5 weeks ago, we forgot to put it on him once he fell asleep. when we woke up in the morning we realised he didnt wet the bed (didnt even know he was ready for to be nappyless at nights) he hasnt had one accident yet.

We got a phone call saying we can move into our new house next weekend. so excited about having our own place again.

The kids were very spoilt this christmas, got a tonne of toys n stuff.

Most importantly, i cant believe i left Amelia with my hubby and my mother (together) while i helped my dad work. i left her 3 hours at a time so that Dad could meet his deadline and go camping for new years. it took 3 days but we finally finished, i felt so bad for leaving Amelia espicially when shes only 6.5weeks old, despite her being in very capable hands. we were all supposed to go camping at the beach together but on the last day of work it started raining and so after all that we didnt go sad

Looking back i cant believe we were on huggies site constantly before baby was born and now that the bubs are born we dont have as much time, and for me (not too sure on others) Amelia mainly sleeps and then lays in her rocker watching the world go by so doesnt need much attention anyway. and yet i still cant find much time to go on the internet anymore.

Well ill try and get on again soon, have a great new years ect smile

well, christmas and new year are over for another year, and i've got a chance to sit down and post again. the last week has been crazy and i'm hoping it will get better from here on. dp and i have been arguing heaps lately and i almost left the other day with the two girls. when we finally stopped arguing, we decided a road trip might help the current situation. so we decided on hervey bay and we tried so hard not to argue and it worked for most of the time, but there was still tension in the air, especially as jessica was unsettled the whole time, (likely reasons being that she was out of her comfort zone and then i discovered a sharp point in the top gum of her mouth unsure ) we finally had a chance nye to do some talking while waiting for the new year to arrive and it turns out he's been feeling like he's not coping, just as much as me. so i think a trip to a doc might be in order and we'll take it from there.

Jessica's a pretty easy going baby through the day and is starting to really interact and she's been grabbing hold of things lately, and not to mention the smiles and "talking", but nights are whole different ball game. she will finally go to sleep around 9pm after about a half hour battle and then maybe sleep till 1am or maybe till around 4am and that's where she becomes a nightmare. she'll feed without a problem and take 10-15min to drink her bottle (150ml-180ml though!!!) and then will be awake for the next hour or two while i battle to get her back to sleep. i feel i have tried every trick in the book, including not changing her nappy, to get her back to sleep and in the end, it's me that's almost in tears, cranky as all buggery and then i can't get back to sleep. (good thing i got a wii fit for chritmas tongue)

jessi, i hope things are on the up for you and leilani, it must be scary to be holding your daughter and then realise she's not breathing!!

manda, hopefully you'll get your camping trip in sometime soon, we can't wait till we get our 4wd drive fixed (possible diff lock busted) so we can drive up the beach to rainbow beach!! but at least you know you and your dad can relax for a bit knowing everything is done for the time being smile

anyways, must be off, got some bottles to wash/sterilise and washing to do, ah the downside of going away tongue
Just a quick Hi. Looks like all the babies are coming along. Merry Xmas & Happy new year to everyone and their families.
