December 2011 babies Rss

Hi All

Man it's been busy, only just been able to sit down with a quiet cuppa while DS sleeps - Day time sleeps are still just about non exsistant - lol. hoping he sleeps for an hour at least! DD's are watching a DVD to keep them quiet while he sleeps (fingers crossed)

Welcome to the group Kq275 - Congrats on your darling Twins!! I currently have 2 of my friends pregnant with twins, just amazing - I hope your getting some sleep trying to feed both of them smile

Update on WW - down 6kg now, it dragged for a couple of weeks, but I have increased my fitness and have dropped a couple in a week smile so I just have to keep it up. I'm so used to having a glass of wine at night (which usually ends up being just about a bottle) lol - so I have ditched the wine and gone downstairs and just worked out insted. lets see how long it lasts for! I really need to get at least 10kg of me fast.

I hope the new bed is working good COFFEEHOLIC smile and your DP's job works out well.

Hows the Sleep training working for you A&A - what do you have to do? I do the cry 5 mins - go in, sooth them - let them cry 10 mins - then go in and so on and so on, I am yet to do it to DS just yet though as when he is sleepy he does go to sleep. but it worked for DD's, they finally get the hint that mummy is not going to pick you up every time, and then finally drift off to sleep.

ah I guess I've rambled on long enough, so I hope everyones little bubs are behaving themselves smile

take care xx
Good job with the WW girls! I am still going nowhere fast but nothing to really blame except the junk I have been buying at the shops - will have to tough it out. Was being good but in-laws have more junk than me so is harder to say no once it is in the house! Have to get my big girl pants on though!

Sleep training is working! Yay! It is just my plan, not from anywhere in particular. Have been making sure am putting him down awake and patting him til he is drowsy/asleep. We are having a bit mroe crying sometimes but usually only lasts a minute or 2 - would sometimes get more than that when rocking/walking him to sleep! Ange I do the similar stuff when he does cry - the times I go in are after about a min or 2, 2 min, 5min. Haven't had to get any more than that so far. If he is being a bit stubborn about nodding off but calm I will just leave him for a while to try to go off on his own. Not so much success wiht this so far!
But, we are getting longer sleeps! had 4 45min sleeps and 1 of 1 1/2 hours yest! Hooray! Before that had been getting 3 10 min sleeps and 1 of 30-45min. Much nicer this way! Bit tougher today - had to wake the poor fella to go to DD's swimming lesson so he had got a bit overtired before lunch time sleep.

WIll hope it keeps up!

Oh, and weighed DS the other day - 7.1kg. 65cm long too! Boofa.
Hi Everyone

I need some advice.
This morning I took the twins to a baby sensory class. This first class was free to see how they liked it, and I have until the end of next week to sign them up for next term. The problem is I don't know if I should sign them or not. DS just layed there doing nothing, would not even smile when he laughs and smiles all the time at home. DD started crying and just wanted to be held the whole class which made it hard to do anything with DS. Being a single mum I had nobody to go with me to help. Are they a bit to young for this being just 13 weeks old? The classes will cost around $300 for a nine week coarse, a lot of money if they don't like it. So do you think I should wait until their a bit older or give it a try? Does anybody have any advice as what I should do?
Thanks

Ok dumb question - what is a sensory class, been a mum 3 x over and never heard about it... what do they do, and what are they s'posed to achieve out of it?
lol - sorry about not been able to answer your question, but you could answer mine and then I might be able to help smile

Sorry, I should have explained what it was.
It just shows your baby new things to stimulate their mind. Today the class was doing sign language to their babies, I had not been before so did not know a thing and just sat there feeling stupid. Then we massaged them with different textured things. All of this was done with music being played in the background. They also sang songs to their babies, I knew none of them. As to what it's s'posed to achieve, maybe a well socialised baby? I don't know.

Hmmm. Tough one. Sounds like it would be kind of fun but obviously pretty stressful with the 2. I assume the teacher/leader didn't offer to take one or give you some techniques to manage with them both? Sounds a bit expensive though for something you are not sure about. Might also depend on how much you need to get out of the house too though! I am sure you will pick up the things to do pretty quickly - same with any group I have started, have to pick up the songs they use and so on.
Haven't done anything like this with DS or my DD so can't give you too much more to go on.
Let us know what you decide though and would be interested to hear what else they do!
Miss C was born 22 December at 33+3 but is doing well. We had a 7 hour sleep last night!

Welcome and Congratulations! Must have been a little scary when you realised you were going in to labour. Glad things are going well now. And double congratulations for your sleep! Was it at a time that you got a decent block of sleep too? Although my DS sleeps 7-8 hours he often starts at 6:30ish so I don't get anywhere near that much!

Yay! I hope it is continuing! DS is starting to improve his sleeping too - it is lovely when it happens and you can make the most of it!

We are starting to get some rolling! Front to back. He did it a couple of weeks ago but rolled off his mat and hit his head on the tiles so didn't tyr it again for a while! tongue Has done a couple in the last couple of days, but not consistent yet. Love watching things change but also don't want it to go so fast!
Hi all

I'm a very new foster carer and have just got a bub born late Dec. Just wondering what type of things we should be doing with him to help him along?? He's very happy, healthy, sleeping well, just wondering what to do to stimulate him etc??

Also, any tips on anything at this age would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Kate! Good on you doing foster care! I always think that must be such a hard thing to do. Sounds like bub is doing well. We mostly fill up the day with involvment of our toddler but some things we do specifically for bub are tummy time, lots of cuddles and 'chatting' and having him with me when doing house stuff/cooking and trying to talk to him about what I am doing. Also try to take him outside so he can see trees and birds and sunlight. We have a few little toys/rattles that he is trying to grab hold of or tap with his hands - I just hold them above him where he can reach them. Also with my DD I would read books with her on my lap. I'm not much good at lots of different voicesbut would give it a go! DD also used to like watching me dance around like a lunatic to whatever was on the radio! DD gets that job this time around!!!

Hope that gives you some ideas to try out. At this stage they still just mostly want to be close to whatever is going on really.

If I think of any other tips will let you know! Best of luck.
A&A

Oh - DS's sleep still better than it was but back to having issues with trouble burping the last couple of days! Argh!!!!

Oh 2 - hope you all had a lovely Easter and didn't eat too many chocolates!
