September 2004 babies Rss

Hi,

My little Isla was born 18th Sept. I would love to talk to others who had babes around the same time.

I also have 21month old girl Tiana. Anyone with similar age difference? How do you keep your toddler occupied?

Cath
Hi Cath,

My daughter Maddisyn was born on the 9th September 2004.

She is our first child so i cant give you any info on how to keep your toddler occupied but would be great to talk about our Sept bubs and compare different or the same development stages they go through.

Is Isla sleeping through the night yet, Maddi hasnt done so yet, although she does sleep on average 5 to 6 hours of a night before her next feed and catnaps through the day.

Hi there,

My daughter Jessica was born on the 10th sept 04.
I also have 2 boys 5 and 2 1/2 yrs and they are brilliant with Jessica..
Even though the boys are older to keep them occupied i try to involve them in all activities associated with Jessica ( nappy changes, baths, bottles etc ) and when Jessica goes down for a nap in the day i make that time for the boys to play with them and help with what ever activity they want to do.
As for the house work well that gets done when ever i can, usually at night when all kids are in bed..
You dont have a huge age difference between your 2 babes but this is how i keep my 2 boys occupied..
My 2 1/2 yr old was shocking when Jessica was born, he would try and push her off my lap, try to smack her as he had been the baby for the last 2 yrs then all of a sudden Jessica arrived.
To resolve this problem i just involved him as much as possible, when he wanted a hold i would give him one and let him help me whenever he could.
He soon got over the jealousy thing and now he adores her and is fantastic..

Hope you find a solution to keeping your toddler occupied..

Hi Again,

Thanks for the ideas. Have found the going a bit tough last 9 days as hubby has been o/s. So I tried to get Tiana to "help" me bath Isla tonight. She loved it! She carried the powder into the bathroom, put Isla dirty clothing into the laundry basket and helped dry her hair (well fuzz).

Isla hasn't slept through either. Just started going from around mid night till 7am so I guess we're nearly there.

Hello All,

My daughter Jasmin was born on 27 September 2004 weighing 6lb 10oz.

She hasnt been sleeping through the night and sometimes will get me up 3 or 4 times, but I bought her a grobag and the past two nights have been much better. Last night she actually slept from 9 through to 6am. Not that I actually slept through - I was up checking that she was still breathing - pretty typical of new mums from what I hear. So I am hoping that this is a result of putting her in the grobag and will continue.

She has been rolling over since she was 11 weeks old and can get from one end of the lounge room to the other in a blink of eye, which can be a bit disconcerting.

Cheers,

Hi, fellow September mums.

My second boy Kody was born on 6 September 2004 weighing 11 pounds, yes he was a big boy and I am only a little person!
He has been an angel and sleeps through the night from about 6pm to 4 or 5 am. He does suffer from reflux thou, but with reflux formula he is coping well and we arn't changing our wet clothes so often. I am considering starting him on solids, he is starting to take a real interest in our food especially his big brothers weetbix of a morning. Its seems a little early thou, have any of you started solids yet? I offered him a little apple puree today and he really took to it. Do you think its too early?

Look forward to hearing any replies

Tamara, ACT
Hi Tamara,

I havent yet introduced solids to my daughter, i am trying to hold off to as close to 6 months as i can, she is thriving and i just dont feel the need to give her solids yet.

Maddisyn does seem to take a little interest in our foods but she isnt underweight in fact she is in the higher 90% weight range for her age and she isnt constantly hungry so i dont feel i am depriving her.

The early childhood centre said it is best to wait until they are 6 months as there digestive system hasnt matured yet, and when i asked about giving her anything they said that it would only result in giving her a belly ache rather than filling her up.
They also told me that Heinz is now relabaling their products from 4 months to 6 months.

I also read that if they still poke there tongue out it means this is a reflex gag they have since birth and until that stops they arent ready, but then again i am just a first time mum and i am no expert, i am just doing what i feel is right for Maddisyn.

I think you should just do what you feel is right for your bub, you should have more of a idea than anyone regarding your child, so do whatever you feel is working.

Hi Sept mummies,

Isla hasn't started solids either, she is'nt showing any interest yet. Tho she does find it hysterical to watch me eat. I think you should wait until your baby tells you it's time. So do whatever works for you.

Isla did give a treat the other night. She slept from 9pm to 7am!!!!!! Maybe it was the fact that she's my 2nd or maybe I was just so damned tired that I slept too! I did wake up just before her and checked if she was breathing, but boy did it feel good to have a good nights sleep. Unfortunatly it was a one off. Both girls are sick with colds so you can't blame either one for having rough nights.
