How badly did your baby sleep while teething Rss

Hi my five month old baby girl is waking 4-6 times a night and has been or the last 3 weeks. she is clearly teething but has no teeth just yet.

just want to know if this sounds like your baby or should i be thinking it is something else causing her to wake up so much.

I have been of diary since she was born as she has a mild sensitity to it. i have in the last week or two been eating dairy again, milk, cheese yoghurt. i'm thinking its either her teeth or the dairy back in my diet. she is breastfed.

surely teething pains would come and go only disrupt her sleep on and of, not every single night for 3 weeks straight.

love to hear from you
Teething can be quiet a hard time, especially their first teeth! My daughter is getting her last teeth atm and she has had bad moods and bad sleep as a result for a few weeks! You can try using bonjela on her gums as she may be in pain and that may be why she can't sleep! Also at around this age is when they can go through a big growth spurt which can result in bad sleeping or lots of sleep! But if you think it could be related to the dairy i would definatley take her to the doctors, better to eliminate that as a cause i guess if there is a chance it could be that!!

Good luck hopefully it starts to get better for you soon!

It could be teething but I was fortunate that my son was a very good teether and never seemed hugely bothered by it. It never affected his sleep. And during the day it was nothing a little bit of baby paracetamol or bonjela couldn't handle - even when he teethed all 4 molars at once smile. Like you say, I don't think teething is that extreme that it would keep her up for weeks on end. Think back to when you lost your baby teeth as a child and new ones were coming through - we didn't all writhe around in agony did we? Mind you, the gum was already cut so maybe that throws that theory out the window haha.

Another thing to consider is that apparently at around 5 months of age babies' sleep patterns change and they start waking more fully every 2 hours or so during the night and if they don't know how to self settle then they will cry for you to do whatever you usually do to help them fall asleep.

Here's an article with other reasons that may be why she is waking: http://www.thesleepstore.co.nz/sleep-informatio...

Hope that helps

Hi Kelly. I feel yr pain. My 7month old is currently waking every 2hrs or so. Crying and will only settle if i breastfeed him. He falls asleep & i put him down. 2 hrs later he cries & wakes again. I find that i am falling asleep as he is feeding. Hit my head a couple times already on the headboard.....ouch!!! I am at my wits end....gonna be trying Weleda Sleeps drops tonite. Hope that it works so bub can have a good sleep. Me too . sad
I found the first teeth to be really tough for DS and our sleep. With the first teeth DS woke every few hours. We ended up doing nurophen (last longer than Panadol) and bonjela. During the day we used the cool teething rings and rusks. Fingers crossed they come through quickly and hopefully the next ones aren't as disruptive.
