Hello all,

What would be the good gift to give at a baby shower? I'm not very good with choosing gifts, so I would like to know what is the best gift to give a baby boy.

Thanks and Regards.

Me personally i would give a voucher. If you're not into giving a voucher maybe a gift basket of wipes, blankets, bottles, or just wipes and the toiletries? eg, shampoo, lotion, powder, baby bath soap, oil...
Everyone bought me clothes............well i didnt have baby shower but after my baby was born everyone got us gifts anyway which was nice.I didnt even use some of the clothes i got given because i had too many size 0000 and 000.I would of prefered nappies but not newborn because normally people have allready bought these so id get crawler size ones. And also loads of cloths or bibs, good job i had bought a load of bibs because i got different sizes and then got more for gifts , i didnt realised id actually use that many bibs and cloths!!! thats if its for a first time mummy, if not something like maybe a cute outfit because they allready have everything else or a toy.
What about s gift for the mother instead, like a massage voucher for after she's had the baby. Or maybe go in with a few people and get a really nice nappy bag (I have a designer leather one which cost a bomb but I absolutely love it).
I also got a lot of clothes in 0000's. So if you want to get them clothes get 00's or 0's, that way there going to get your moneys worth out of them.

I also got TONNES of baby lotions, powder so i would stay away from them if possible. Also depending on the type of person, i got some baby books to record milestones and things like that but thats not me and they havent ever been used

A box of nappies is also a great idea, but not newborn size, the next size up would be better. I LOVE practical gifts!!

Other things that i go that i thought was great was a really nice towel (full size not a baby one) with there name embrodered (sp?) on it, i got a massage voucher with a lovely note that said they would be happy to babysit while i got my massage.
yes, I agree with the PP regarding clothes... If you are going to get some, get bigger sizes from 00 onwards.
Towels, bibs and wraps are always great... And then theres the little things that alot of people forget like a thermometor, nail clippers, hair brush etc.
Vouchers ar always handy too, but maybe something little and a voucher to go with it smile
Those fisher price baby swings r awesome! so great .... it helped sooo much with dd and her colic-iness .... the bouncer didnt seem to distract her as much!

Personally, something that is practical and useful. Thinking back on gifts I received when DS was born, they included vouchers, money, drink bottles, rubber tipped spoons (great as I never had to buy any when it came to feeding), bowls, larger sized clothing was great too, nappies, maybe a toy or book.

Have fun shopping!!! grin

Mum to one DS

One of the best gifts I got for mine was a nappy disposal system! They are around $50 and i have gotten SO much use out of it!(Mine was Munchkin brand) DONT BUY CLOTHES!!! I got so many clothes my little man didn't even get to wear half of them! Practical gifts are the best! shampoos, body wash, baby wipes, scented nappy bags & swaddles are ALWAYS needed!!
grin hope that helped!
It depends on how close you are to the expectant mother and if this is her first baby, or the first baby of a different gender. If the mum has't already got her nappy change bag, maybe one of those? Does she have a jolly jumper? My SIL got that many wipes and baby bath oils that she didn't have to buy any til her son was 18 months old! Or if you consider yourself a crafty person, you could always make a patchwork play mat - they don't have to be that big. Of course you could always create a little book of favours vouchers for you to give the mum-to-be... Things that she can call you for - like a day babysitting, or a girls night out, or a cooked meal, or a helping hand with the laundry. Print them up and staple them together to give to her as a little booklet smile
Is there something your friend really likes or is into that you can base some ideas around? smile

When I was pregnant with DD I called my belly Tinkerbell, so my Aunty bought me a really lovely and fancy hardback Tinkerbell fairy story book - it's very special and has a lot of meaning attached to it (plus a really nice hardback picture or story book is a nice idea and something that will last and be used for a long time).

One of my friends is very into natural and environmentally friendly living, so for her baby shower I gave her an amber teething necklace, a handmade organic teether toy, some natural baby aromatherapy sprays and a natural hand sanitiser spray. I also bought her some singlets and decorated them myself.

Another friend loves Pooh Bear so I found a few different Pooh Bear clothes, toys and stories and did up a basket for her.

Have fun thinking of ideas!
Double
Some ideas:
Baby singlets that clip up under the nappy or sleevless bodysuits.
Bath seat.
Baby wraps
sleeping bag- grobag are the best, from babys r us
onies/ bodysuits- can't get enough of these, they are what my DD lives in.
I'm with most, go for older sized nappies, but make a nappy cake, it's so easy to make and looks amazing. Youtube can guide you. Avoid buying those play mats, I ended up with 6 of them.

If u dont mind a voucher, get a voucher for a hand and foot mould.
Or go for those seat liners that are used on shopping trolleys.

My best gift was a cleaner for a month, it was heaven.

Happy shopping!
I wish i had known about these when i was pregnant
Nappy cakes they are amazing

If you are going to buy clothes I would buy onsies. I loved the bonds singlets that have snaps under nappy. Great for hot weather or under winter clothes. Can also get dymples ones that are cheaper from big W. I agree with buying 00 clothing and not 000 for the next season as I also had lots of clothes that didn't get worn as Zara grew too fast.

I received a beautiful pewter money box and baby book and also a phote frame. From family I got a lovely gold id bracelet with our surname spelt in Russian - my husband has a ukrainian background.

I also got nappies and wraps. If you get wraps get the big ones anything under 110cms is no good once baby reaches about 5kg. Think target and big W sell ones 120cm wide. Lots of wipes are handy. Playmats are good. There is lots of stuff you can buy just depends on home close you are to the person and how much you want to spend.

Things I wouldn't buy - dummies, bottles as people tend to have own prefernces as to which brand they want to use. Oh and bathers in size 000 I never used those either.
