15 month old Bumping his head for fun! Rss

Dear all
I am a father of a delightful little boy who is in the midst of turning from baby to toddler.
He's always been good - eating well, sleeping well, and in the last few months finding out how to walk, interacting and so forth.

But in the last 2 or 3 weeks, there have been some strong indications that his personality is developing, and some changes are starting to occur.

Before i go through these, i might mention that my parents-in-law are visiting and are great grandparents but giving extra attention which Matty loves but he's not used to having all the time.

Anyway, in the last few weeks, he has started to be more demonstrative of what he likes and doesn't like. At first it was amusing - no i don't want to go to bed, no i don't want to go for a walk etc. but this has now developed into something which seems a lot more serious, eg collapsing on to the ground, and then deliberately hitting his head on the floor or wall.

He doesn't seem to mind but it looks painful and occasionally he does a little too hard even for himself.

It probably just a stage he's going through, i hope, but i was wondering if anyone has had experience in this, and how i should react. Should i go pick him up, should i try to distract him (always trying to do), should i be trying to calm him down ??? i don't want this turning into a habit

i forgot to add, that when he 'collapses' or throws himself down, he is of course too young to really think about the possible consequences, so could be on a hard floor or near a table or something...so i feel like just carrying a pillow around...

thanks for any help
Yep my little one does exactly the same thing. if she falls and bumps her head then she does it again and again because i (or someone) reacts so she thinks its funny i would just try to ignore it as much as possible but if he is really hurting himself pick him up and give him a cuddle and u might need to walk around so he doesn't get straight back down and do it again.

good luck
