Canterbury and Bankstown-Lidcome Hospitals Rss

Hi there,

With my last pregnancy i gave birth at St George Public Hospital and since then i have moved closer to Bankstown-Lidcombe and Canterbury hospitals.

I'm TTC no.2 and i was wondering if anyone had given birth at either of these hospitals and if they had, did they have a good or bad experience?

I'm asking now because i know when the time comes my doctor will ask me which hopsital i want.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jen
My sister gave birth at bankstown hospital for all 3 of her babies!! I was her birthing partner for them and they midwives there were fantastic! So supportive of what she wanted to do and really helpful during her pregnancy as she has a lot of complications!!
Its a very nice hospital too! From what i saw!

I gave birth at Christchurch Womens Hospital and had a terrible experience , the staff were great but everything else was lacking , first they couldnt find a portable gas machine for me so i had the option of sucking gas from the wall or just being without and going in the shower , then when i had complications they mucked up my IV , then they couldnt do a epidurial because they kept mucking up then when it finally came to pushing the suction machine wasnt working properly and then the cap came off and broke they couldnt find another cap so they had to use an old school suction , it was a horrible experience and i will never ever have another baby there
I also gave birth at st George public and my second due to moving at Bankstown nothing even came close to st George my experience was not a good 1 for diabetes results as I had gestational diabetes with the second they said they called and left a message never got it so I found out at my next mid wife visit at 32 weeks then when it came to the labour well I called as you do to say what's going on was told to put on a pad and call back a an hour later well my water broke and I never made it to the hospital but in saying that in their defense my secound labour was way to quick would never have made it to any hospital was taken by ambulance and when I got their placed into a room baby checked and wrapped then checked for any cut and then left and told not to move or have a shower till a midwife checked me over and all I wanted to do was shower and change as I had blood all over my legs clothes as bubs was placed on them all bloody and dirty also my hair and I didn't want to feed her being so dirty and also did mention that something was wrong with bubs didn't think it was wind as she cried the whole time I was their even when we got home we ended up 10 days later back in hospital so that's my experience I'm glad we have moved again as for bub 3 il be at another hospital

Just to add that when my gp said to take bubs back to we're she was born I didn't cos I looked at it that they didn't listen the first time why would i go back their and in saying had they said yes come on when I first called I would have given birth at the hospital not in the car on the way to the hospital it was freighting especially when she was having difficulty breathing but the lady on the phone she was amazing but my husband was in shock sorry to blab on and on but this is my experience never again

I gave birth at bankstown hospital, have to say that they didnt take me to seriously at first when i said i was in labour. i went in anyway stayed and with 4 hours i had my baby. Midwives were great however had complications and had a couple of surgeries, plus once dishcharged was back there, but all in all midwives were very firendly and helpful
Thanks ladies.

Its given be a little bit more of a push to go back to St George public hospital.
