I broke the baby Rss

So yesterday while I was sick with a migraine and DH was watching DS, Ds lost his balance with his cart and fell forwards landing on his wrists, I was asleep and didn't notice anything till this morning, Ds had gone to bed not long after falling which is why DH wouldn't have noticed.
DS' wrists are all swollen one worse that the other, and he squeaks and trembles when you touch it, yet he's still the happy chappy the rest of the time, content to crawl a little elss than normal on them to get around.
We took him to the doctor today and she thinks he's sprained them, maybe a fracture. They won't do an xray on him at until tomorrow if at all, they said we'd be very lucky to ge tone tomorrow as well... The radiologist look at me like I insane when I said it was hurting him, to be fair I can see why, he's the happiest child in the universe even when he's sore which makes taking him anywhere when he is sick a nightmare, especially with unfamiliar doctors.
Has anyone encounter the refusal to x-ray, the lady said it was standard for under 3's but DS has already been xray'd (at 3mo at that) at the time I asked about the risks and they told me its about the same amount of radiation that you'd get flying in a airplane.
I'm going to put my angry mummy hat on if he has fractured his wrists,

Not xraying under 3 is nonsense.

Xrays should not be performed unnecessarily, however if there is a clinical indication - in your DS's case, fall on outstretched hands, swelling, pain, reluctance to weight bear - then an xray is indicated. At his age it's unlikely to be a significant (ie displaced) fracture, but you still need to know.

I would push for it if he's still sore tomorrow. The amount of radiation is not unduly high.

My DS1 walked on a fractured leg for a week. He was 2. sad He also fractured his wrist at 3 gasp Both times I was told that an xray was unnecessary. I insisted. Little people can be stoic.

I wish I was a glow worm. A glow worm's never glum ... coz how can you be grumpy when the sun shines out your bum?!

As a two year old, I broke my arm. I was the happiest child in the world, it took a week before mum and the docs realised I had broken my arm - they had sent me home with a sprain.

Stick by your gut instinct and insist on an xray, especially if your DS1 won't put any weight on it.
Oh you poor thing, poor DS! Thats ridiculous, when DD was around 2 the battery cover somehow come off a thermometer and I couldn't find the battery anywhere and suspected she ate it and they had no qualms in xraying her to see! I hope its just a sprain x
Not doing an xray seems a bit silly to me. My LO was sent 4 an xray at at 3 months old as one of her lower legs was quite bowed. They wasnted to ahve it done to see if it was the bone or just the way the muscle everything was but all is good now..... i dnt think they would send her for a xray just to keep an eye on things if it was so bad.

I would think they would want to confirm if there was damage to fix it right?

Goodluck....hope he is ok

I took him back yesterday morning because he couldn't put any weight on it without crying, it was around the size of a golf ball I took a photo but it is kind of hard to tell just how bad it was.

The xray couldn't see a obvisious break and our dr said at his age their could be a fracture there but he's too young to be able to tell, so I have to keep him on pamol, (they didn't even bother to tell me to keep him off it) and bring him back in a few days if its still swollen.
