First international flight Rss

When did you first take your Bub on an international flight ? Just got the news today that my hubby might get posted to overseas for a couple of months. He wants to bring us along so we can play happy family together.

I would like to go but would only go after Bub turns two months, after her needles. Though I'm hesitant about bringing Bub on plane for long periods of time, confined space, stale air, germy bathrooms..Aaahhh..the horror.

Flight travel will be will 20 hours all up but we will have a stopover for a day to two. Was it hard travelling on planes with a 2 month old baby ?
It's easier to travel when they are younger!!! I took dd to Florida when she was 1 (2 days after her 1st bday) and then ds we went to Thailand when he was 4 months. Much easier with ds!

I wouldn't hesitate to go, particularly if dh work was paying! smile
DD first went on an aeroplane when she was 8 months old. From South Africa to Australia... Lonnnnnng flight so thank goodness she couldn't crawl yet. She was almost there but just couldn't!
Much easier when they are younger, with luck you will get a bassinet as well if you request it, which makes travel sooooo much more comfortable. We took DD to India when she was 14 months, 24hours straight travelling, she managed quite well, but had trouble trying to stop her going up and down the aisles. She only just fit in the bassinet.

I have only done it with a 15month old and just turned 4 yr old. I reckon it would be easier with a baby too! Bassinet seat means you would have heaps of room, toilets were pretty good, staff were amazing, no dramas at all with stale air etc. It was lovely and really relaxing! For the first time in years I had my meals made for me, I had no cleaning up and I got to spend 2 flights (1x7hours, 1 x 13 hours and a 6 hour airport stopover) just playing with the kids and eating. Brilliant! What a great opportunity! Where are you going?
Japan for 6 months. Just realized Bub will miss her 4 and 6 month needles though. Does it mean I have to fly all the way back to Aus to have it done or is it possible to delay her vaccines ? worried about any side effects too

I did a google search and some parents delay the needles till they are a little older or don't get them at all !
Looks like we're going ! She's going to be closer to 4 months, as we're going after her 4 month vaccine.YAY !

Read that I should feed her during take off and landing ? Did you do that as well ? If she's asleep, should I wake her up to suck?

And what I should bring for Bub ? Baby panadol and small first aid kit just in case, I can't read Japanese ! Baby sling and pram so mum can explore whilst she's asleep. smile

Travelling is so much fun when someone pays for your expenses. Lol smile
