Car Seat Rss

I was curious what position you have put babies car seat once you've turned them around. A few mums I know have put them in the middle so they can see more and also be reached easier. I wasn't sure if there was any safety issues with this position.

My DD is almost 8kg however we're in no hurry to turn her. She doesn't play up in the car (yet) and the seat recommends keeping her reward facing until 12kg. We don't travel in the car much anyway so its not a big issue. I'm just curious what happens in 'reality' instead of what you read in a manual. LOL !!!

DD is 3yr 8 months - DS is 6 months

Hey Kazi,

I think it really depends on your child when you choose to turn the car seat, my boys both cried heaps in the rear facing position and we moved them as soon as they could hold their heads up.

Positioning is the safest in the middle due to collision statistic's, (you know when they test cars with the dummy) if a car was hit in the front, the middle tends to be less effected, also the same with side or rear collisions. Lets hope either way that none of us are involved in any collisions!

I think it is alot about convinence wher you put the carseat, I have two in my car, one on either side but even when I had just one baby I put it on the side as it was eaiser for me to get her in and out of the car. My first daughter was turned around at 11 months as she was still under 9kg at that age but I not sure when I'll turn baby around as she is quite big.
Aimee didnt mind being rearfacing for so long as she didnt know any differnt.

Hi Kazi!

Well, I have no choice with mine...I have a booster seat and 2 baby seats and so far it has been easier to put bub in the middle. I found my other 2 liked the outter seats as they could look out the window more but they have no choice now...lol.

I turned my first 2 around when they were 6 months as they were constantly trying to sit up...as they were sitting up on their own by then. I turned them around and they were heaps happier! I am going to turn our little one around later this month as she is just getting to the stage of trying to constantly sit up!

The centre seat is the safest position for the car seat. The reason for this is if there is a side impact crash. I read it on a website specifically abou the subject. If you have more than one bub, put the older ones on the outside as they has stronger.
