Measuring 33cm at 35 weeks pregnant Rss

Hi people,
I went to the midwife yesterday and she measured my tummy size for the first time. It measured only 33cm and I'm 35 weeks pregnant so I have to have a growth u/s at the end of the week. She wasn't exactly reassuring when I asked if she was worried about something or if this was standard procedure.
Has anyone else been through this? What was your outcome?
This is my first baby, I'm 5'9, baby's movements are like clockwork and she has a strong heartbeat. She's also laying across my tummy, not head down like she should be.
Any advice would be great.
From my understanding is in an ideal world when they measure the fundal height you should measure the same cm's as weeks you are, but none of my babies ever have. My first two were born both in the high 7 pounds perfectly healthy and this one is only measuring 35cm and i am 40 weeks. Try not to worry, after all it is only a guide smile
Definitely do not worry, especially because of the way baby is lying, it is more likely to measure smaller that way, and at least they are sending you for a growth scan to put your mind at ease. A friend just went through this today, she was measuring 30 at 33 weeks, but when she went for the scan they actually put her at 34 weeks, so it's a very innacurate way of measuring size.

I had the same issue and for the last month was being monitored weekly and had a few ultrasounds. Baby was really healthy but my stomach wasn't measuring as it should have been.

One week before my due date I had a scan and they noticed that her growth had slowed down and that she was under the 10th percentile. The Dr decided that they would induce her one day before her due date, as it would mean that she would have a better chance of putting on weight on the outside than on the inside.

Now I have a healthy and gorgeous little nearly 3 week old girl! She was 2.85kgs when she was born and was very healthy. We went home the next day as she had passed everything and the midwives were happy with her leaving the hospital.

Dont worry too much (easier said than done as I worried alot!) You are in good hands, the Dr's and Midwives will look after you. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me smile
In the last trimester I don't think the fm correlates as closely to your weeks gestation as earlier on...It really depends on where baby is positioned and how they are laying at the time of measurement. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I measure 36cm at 33 weeks...my Ob didn't even bat an eyelid when measuring and we are both fine grin
At 34 weeks I measured 29cm, had an u/s which showed everything was normal & great, went on to have an 8 pound 7 baby smile

That way of measuring isn't very accurate.
I had the scan today and our baby is in perfect size & condition, weighing in at 6lbs 3oz with 4 weeks to go.

Thankyou all for your words of wisdom grin

I wouldnt worry 2 much. My whole last trimester i was smalled than i should have been. We had a healthy baby girl with no probs at all weighing 6'11. The doc just kept an eye on it to make sure it didnt drop each measurement. From memory i was about 3cm behind.

They will jst make sure you dont consistantly drop. A friend of mine who was pregnant and the same time started falling so they just induced her 2 weeks earlier from the due date. They say that if you keep falling then your placenta may not be doing a good a job as its supposed to so its safer for the baby to be out. In saying that, her little boy was born at 6'10 so he was just fine. I guess it was just a precaution.
Don't stress about those measurements they are just an indication of growth so help
pinpoint a possible growth problem, a scan is usually more accurate. I NEVER
measured what I was meant to even with twins and my OB said she didn't expect me
to adds I'm tall (5'7) and I don't have big babies. With my son on my due day measured
33cm and he was a 6pounder and my twins at 34wks (born at 34+1) I measured 33.5
(they were small but irrelevant ss prem and twins).
Wait for the scan and see what they say before you worry and even then a small baby
can (and usually is) healthy smile
don't stress, i was measuring 39 at 36 weeks, then another midwife came in and double checked, and she measured it at 36. they both agreed that miswives can measure differently. but you can be 2 cm either way, so at 35 weeks, you could measure 33cm or 37, and it would not be of any concern. it's only an estimate measurement of your belly (fubdal height), and you could be carrying extra fluid, or in my case, the midwive measured wrong!
