Clap clap clap Rss

When speaking with a midwife recently she
Mentioned that my baby should be clapping shortly!!! My ds is 5months and doesn't seem like she has any interest in clapping. Just curious when other hubs start clapping?
Not sure what drugs your MW is on but she should stop taking them (or maybe take more?).
Babies usually start clapping when they're 10-13 months old.
You can find ACCURATE information on infant development on the Raising Children Network website.
My ds just turned one and he doesn't clap!! It's the one thing he just won't do, no matter how many times I try and show him! And its a lot ! He knows what to do, if I say clap mummy's hand he'll grab my hands and clap them together no probs, but then I'll say you do it, clap your hands....nah forget it. He's just not interested!
He will when he's good and ready I think so I'm not concerned one bit smile
My daughter was considered "late"...she clapped at 12months. She started childcare at 10 months and the girls were quite surprised she wasnt clapping and one particular girl took it upon herself to teach her daily (she announced to me she would have her clapping in 2 weeks-hrm like I hadnt already tried but hey every vibrant young childcare worker to themselves I wasnt complaining about the extra 1:1 she was giving DD smile..and no she didnt teach her in 2 weeks)
sorry didnt actually answer your question...I feel that babies all do things in there own time despite how hard we try to teach them smile

haha mine does the same or will get 2 blocks and clap them together, just not his own hands, I'm not too worried about it he does everything else I think they are meant to do at that age.

They will all learn to clap eventually when they are good and ready.

Lol, my ds claps 2 blocks together all the time too, but not the hands! It's so funny laugh
my little man is nearly 7mths and he tries to clap he puts one hand on the other when we are clapping or when we say clap.
DD started clapping at about 7 months. She was the ONLY one in my anental group that could do it. In saying that she wasn't even crawling then and another baby was almost walking. She is one now and still can't walk but the other baby can and still can't clap. They all develop at different speeds. Clapping isn't a milestone at 6 months more like 12.

My 10 month old started clapping 2 weeks ago, i agree with everyone else who said they all do things at different times and its not anything to be concerned about ,i have never seen a 5 month old clap although im sure its possible.
