Too much weight? Rss

I had the baby nurse come over yesterday and she weighed my little princess.
Anastasia has put on triple of what the expected weight gain is meant to be.
I was quite pleased to know that she has putbon weight.
I was shocked when the nurse told me to cut out one of her bottles!
How can a baby thriving be a bad thing and how is it that as a young baby I have to watch her weight?
Also how many bottles is she having and how much and is she happy?

Just to put your mind at ease i will tell you about my boys

AT ds1 health check at 6months i was told my son was obese and to put him on a strict diet for solids... well i chose not to take there advise after talking to my mum sister and mil and my son now is 3 healthy and definaetly not obese he is 20 kilos and quite tall

I think you should do what you think is right

Ds2 was having 120ml 6 times a day when he was 2-3 weeks old he is now 12weeks and has 5 lots of 200 in a 13 hr space and sleeps through

But as i said do as you feel is right if she didn't need it she wouldn't drink it!

hrmmm this is becoming a common thing said to mummies now days and i think in most cases its completly wrong of them to give the advice based on what the childs "expected weight gain" should be.
i know that there are a few cases where new mummies are over feeding there bubs and it was so long ago i had my son i forget how many mls ds was on at that age but he was on four hourly feeds during the day and i think roughly went 6 hours overnight.
I got really offened when my nurse told me my 1 month old was over weight. Honestly I wouldnt listen to the nurse, If thats how much your baby needs thats how much they need. My son was "overweight" until 7 months and now he is perfect weight.

From when he was born until he started solids; he had anywhere from 5-10 bottles a day
My Daughter is having between 7 and 8 bottles a day and drinking between 60 and 80 mls. She is almost 2 weeks old and was born at just over 4 kilos which she is now.. I'm not going to listen to the nurse I am just so shocked that they can tell us to feed our babies less, put them on a diet or even call them obese! I'm glad you mummies also listened to your heart. I appreciate advice from the nurses but in the end I believe we know what is best for bub...

I'm shocked a nurse would say this of a 2 week old baby as well, if a baby is born at 4kg its natural they will eat more than a smaller baby. What is on the formula tin is just a guide, some babies drink more and some less, feed your bubba according to her appetite.

thats a smart attitude!! i was very lucky in that i had a great MCHN and despite my son being in the 98th %ile for his weight all his life she was very good in that she always maintained the while other nurses would tell me hes weighing too much considering his height was off the %ile chart when he was 3months old she could very clearly see that he was in proportion. sometimes i think those charts can do more harm than good.
