Eating food then pooing straight after
So, my son has hit 4 months about a week or so a go. We've got him on solids at the moment. But, I have noticed everytime I feed him solids he does a poo straight after! Why is this? Is it a bad thing? IF anyone could give me some insight it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
i suggest you ask your doctor and see what they say because i am predicting that you will get a lot of negavtive responses about it being to early to feed solids and that you are damaging his digestive system and blah blah blah...
i say it's normal as their tummies are so small and metabolisms fast.

Well it's the heinz baby food recommended for 4 months of age. He also normally has milk with it too. Yeah, that's what I thought, his tummy was just working really fast. Hmm.
my DS does this, not all the time but a fair bit, he often goes while eating. I figure he's just making room for the new stuff to come in.
out with the old in with the new.
Just because he's going straight after doesn't necessarily mean its from that feed, it could be left overs from the day before IYKWIM.

is he breastfed? apparantally it is comment for breastfed babies to poop after being fed. I dont know if that is just after milk or solids aswell so if he is that could be why but i would still ask profesional help if your concerned smile
I remember DS going through a stage like that. For DS it was just a stage until his system got used to solids. We started solids around 5 mths (just before I think).
If he is eating and still getting sufficient supply of BF/BB then I wouldn't worry too much.
But, as PP said, if you are really unsure, ask your dr.

Its a normal reflex, its the same with pupies when toilet training them you take them outside after a feed. Sometimes I to go after a feed, dont you?
I would think the important thing here is what is the poo like? If it is watery or mucousy then I think it would be worth checking out with your GP, oherwise I would assume as the others are saying that he is just processing it quickly.
