small baby
My little man is 11 months and only weighs 7.7kg. Has anyone else have a small baby like this and have any advice how to fatten him up?
Hey, How long has he been on solids??
My ds is 19 months and he weighs just over 13 kilos.
I started my ds on solids when he was 6 months and put him on cows milk at 9 months.

He has been on solids since he was 5 months. Just started him on cows milk. Is cows milk got more fat in it then formula?
My DS is 18 months old and only weighs just under 10kgs. At 12 months old, he was only 7.5 kgs. Some babies are just built little, and no amount of 'fattening up' helps. We tried upping his food intake more snacks etc and moved him to cows milk, but my boy is so active that he is constantly burning up the energy. He is very slender, but still looks very healthy so im not concerned and neither is our doctor.
I wouldn't worry too much, but maybe get him checked out for peace of mind.

Hi smile My ds is just about 11 months and he weighs 7.3kg. He was 2.7kg at birth. I agree with previous post that some kids are smaller but that doesn't mean there's something wrong. My 3 other kids are also small so I think my kids are small due to genetics. I think if your worried you should get him checked out but if he's happy and meeting milestones etc I would personally think he'd be OK.
Just wanted to let you know about this article that we have on our site ... Is My Child Underweight?

Hi
I am also in the same boat! concerned about my DS weight! She is 12 months and 1 week now, she is only 7.5kg and 72cm height. Still on BF, going to introduce cow's milk this month. But other than that her intake is ok.
Her birth weight is 2.34kg.Don't know what to do? how to make them put more weight. If any one out there knows any ideas let me know.

DS2 was born at 3.9kg...at 11 months he only weighed 6.7kg and was 67.5cm long. Nothing wrong with him, he just didn't gain a lot of weight. He was 15 months old before he broke the 8kg mark...but once he did his growth shot off at a pace. He is now 4 and 'average' height and weight for his age, but it took him a bit longer to get there. Nothing we tried to 'fatten' him up worked that well, and our Plunket nurse frustrated me no end about how much he didn't weigh, especially when she refused to look at him and how he was instead of looking at her charts all the time. DS1 followed a similar pattern, and I can't gain weight to save my life so figure their genes must be at work.
A happy, healthy, content baby/toddler who is meeting milestones is probably not going to be affected too much by being 'small'. If you are concerned then a trip to the GP for a once over might give you peace of mind, otherwise he might just be a 'small' child.
