our four month old little girl rolled over xmas eve, and then again today (boxing day) but her sleep ever since the 1st roll has been a bit off. during the day she will only sleep for an hour at a time, and only be awake for an hour at a time. so an hour u, then hour sleep...and so on. she usually sleeps through the night 7pm-7am but last night she woke at 3.30am then back down until 7.00am. wondering is this a growth spurt? or just a change because of her reaching her rolling milestone?
4 month rolled over twice
Hi there
our four month old little girl rolled over xmas eve, and then again today (boxing day) but her sleep ever since the 1st roll has been a bit off. during the day she will only sleep for an hour at a time, and only be awake for an hour at a time. so an hour u, then hour sleep...and so on. she usually sleeps through the night 7pm-7am but last night she woke at 3.30am then back down until 7.00am. wondering is this a growth spurt? or just a change because of her reaching her rolling milestone?

I read somewhere that once they reach a new milestone it can stuff up sleep for a bit as their brain is processing what is going on and they want to practice it often.

Many babies who have previously slept through the night revert to night waking around the 4 month mark. There are many theories as to why but the most popular is that it is due to a growth spurt or developmental changes around this age.
My children both began sleeping through at about 10 weeks then began night waking at 4 months. This continued until well after the 6 month mark. At 6 months you can try teaching-to-sleep methods (control crying and others) but at 4 months if your baby is waking, feed them and settle them again. At that age they are needing something from you. It can be hard on you but they wake for a reason.
I don't think there is a direct link to rolling over - unless you suspect they roll over in their sleep then can't get back. In which case you will just have to grin and bear it - until they learn to roll back. In my experience once they can roll over, they often choose to tummy sleep so this theory isn't likely to be your answer.
Good luck.
