3 month growth spurt and teething? Rss

Hi. My daughter has just turned 3 months old and used to sleep well at night but now is waking every 2-3 hours. We have just changed her bedtime as before she was going to sleep around 10pm, sleeping til 4 or 5 for a feed then again until 7ish. She now is asleep by 7.30pm, awake at 11 or 12,2ish,5ish then 6am ready to get up! I have tried to put her back to sleep with dummy, rocking, shushing but nothing works so I feed her each waking.
Was it a bad idea to change her night routine if she is having a growth spurt? I also think she is teething. Lots of dribble, sucking and chewing on everything, heaps of runny poo...
Is there some hope in sight!?? I am starting to struggle with the short bursts of broken sleep.
i know what your talking about smile this happened with the first 2 of my kids at around 3-4months, my DD got better after a month or so after 6 teeth popped thru at once! poor thing but the sleep got back to normal as soon as that was done with. my DS was similar but he had some other sleep issues later on. my 2 month old is showing signs of the growth spurt being near too..in my case i didnt change a thing in regards to their routines and they still had an unsettled/waking up lots period. so no i dont think changing her routine is to blame however id try not feeding her at the 2pm waking straight away id still try to resettle first you dont want a habit to continue when the spurt is over but def feed the 12pm and 5am wakings. but you do what works for you smile

hate to be the barer of bad news tho lol, but as soon as you think you've got them sorted and in a routine they'll muck it up again roll eyes
Thanks for your advice. Last night was the worst night we have had! She went to sleep at 8pm, I gave her a dreamfeed at 10:15 then she woke kicking up her legs and squirming at 12 and I put her back to sleep, she woke again at 1am and hubby put her back to sleep, 2:30 she was really distressed and screaming (not like any crying we have heard before- almost like she was in pain) so I fed her. She then slept til about 4am and I put her back to sleep and then 5:30am when I fed her, then 6:30am when she did a little projectile spew (not upset though, quite happy and playful!) so we got up for the day.
Do you think giving her extra feeds is causing her to have belly pain and wind? Will she feed if she isn't hungry?
I'm so worried I'm doing the wrong thing but not sure if it is a growth spurt as she is not seeming overly hungry in the day.

Anyone had this experience?

maybe try not giving her the dream feed at 10 and see if she sleeps through that time until 12..if so id be going to bed when she does and at least getting those first few hours in. are you burping her properly after her feeds? it cam be tempting at night to pop them straight into their bed if they fall asleep on the boob but i find they wake up a short time later with wind, so id make sure to burp her no matter what time it is.

when you give her a feed is she draining the entire breast? they can become lazy at night and fall of to sleep before theyve emptied it, so id be compressing the breast a little after your let down has eased to keep her drinking and be sure shes got her fill or shell wake up since she didnt drink enough.

well this is my experience anyway, every bub is different smile good luck i hope she behaves for you soon xx
Last night was great! She fed at 6:30pm and was asleep at 8:30pm. I didn't dreamfeed to see what she would do, and she slept right through and woke at 4:30am for her first night feed! I think you are right about the burping. I try to burp her at night feeds but often nothing comes up so I do put her into bed sooner than I used to. I will take a bit more time to get a burp out or hold her up and atleast let her tummy settle before putting her back in bed. Hopefully she repeats the big 8 hour sleep tonight!
Thanks again for your advice. When you're a 1st time Mum you can't help but wonder if what you are doing is causing the problems and forever trying to find solutions! Much better to get on a forum and find out from Mum's who have been there and done that! grin
