from formula to food
Hi I am just wondering my little one will be turning one soon and as well as slowly switching from formula to cows milk i am also wondering when to go from offering a milk bottle upon waking in the morning to breakfast first then milk also would i give lunch first then follow with milk about hour later. Presently he does have a bottle when first wakes in the am followed by breaky about 1 1/2 later. Currently he has 4 formula bottles a day guide recommends but will be cutting down to 3 soon. smile
with the first waking bottle I don't think it matters too much if its before or after breakfast.
I started switching DS around at about 10months as the food starts to become more important, so you could start now if you wanted.
my DS is 15months but heres how our meals have been going since about 12months.
7am breakfast
10ish snack
12 lunch
2 snack
5 dinner
6.30 bottle
He sometimes drinks a little milk after his breaky but he gets calcium from cheese at lunch, yoghurt as one of his snacks and he has milk in his cereal.
I think they say 600ml of calcium a day is fine so it doesn't have to be just milk.

This is my 1 yr old DDs routine. She's pretty much on cows milk for bottles now, but I'm trying to use up my last tin of formula so I have been mixing them which she doesnt mind.
8.00 - bottle
8.30 - breakfast
10.30 - snack
11.00 - nap
12.30 - lunch
3.00 - bottle with a snack
3.30-5.00 - nap
6.00 - dinner
7.00 - bath
7.30 - bed and bottle
