day routine for a 5 week old Rss

Hi all

just curious, after a feed, how long should bub stay awake before trying to put them back to sleep? and when and how long is tummy time?

thanks!

Angela

I have a five week old and was wondering similar things.
Trying to remember but at 5 weeks they should spend around 30 mins each day on there tummy, I did it 5 mins at a time, 6 times a day smile

For my son it was, awake, nappy change, bottle, tummy time, mummy time, and usually by now he was awake for an hour, then it was check nappy, bottle, nap
we worked on a cycle of 1.5-2 hours between sleeps, and did boob-play(with tummytime included)-boob with nappies/burping etc then back to sleep

I have spoken to plunket recently about this and was told 1-1.5 hours max then back to bed. My ds is up for about 50 mins lately

Honestly just go with what your baby wants to do, you will be able to pick up on signs of tiredness. If he/she wakes and wants to be awake for half an hour thats ok, if they want longer thats ok too, but i wouldnt leave it for longer than an hour and a half otherwise he might be overtired. As for tummy time, i would only do it for 5 minutes at a time, a few times a day. It is really good for there development that they have tummmy time but at the same time you dont want to overdo it.
Hi,
I have just had the clinic nurse come for a home visit. She left a phamplet for me to read. In it has a table of what their routine is from 1 week to 12 months+

for a 1-4 week old the routine is feed, play, sleep. Sleep pattern is 16 & 1/2 hrs in 24hrs, awake between sleeps is an hr, time in bed is 2-3 hrs, play consists of talking, faces and singing with them.

for a 4-12 week old its feed, play, sleep. Sleep patterns is 15 hrs in 24 hrs; 3-4 day sleeps awake time is 1-1 & 1/2 hrs, time in bed is 2-3 hrs and play consists of toy frames, mobiles, soft toys, colours, floor-play & tummy time.

My DS is 2 weeks today, and i have noticed that after an hr awake he starts to show the tired signs and then its off to bed, sleeps for the 2 hrs then its feed time.

Hope this helps.
