walkers Rss

hey people
i was just looking for people's thoughts on the subject of walkers.
My older two children used them when they were babies and we're talking about geting one for DC sometime in the future.
He's alot like my older son who walked at 8.5months. He won't lay on his tummy at all and just wants to be stood up all the time.
i just want to know what others thought.

as long as you dont have stairs and the ground is even and no toys they are fine... it is just that kids have died and even had servere injuries from falling on staris or going over toys makeing the walking tipp over also when they are up like that they can pull things on top of them. so just safe proff

I was chatting with my physio this week on walkers and jolly jumpers. Not only is he a great physio, he has 4 kids so 'been there done that' (ha ha ha). He said the problem with walkers is accidents from them tipping over. When they are running along they can get caught on the carpet, trip on some-thing on the floor or even bash into the walls. He said the injuries from the impact when they go over can be quite bad. I suppose its like all these 'toys' - as long as you supervise them and follow directions you can't go too wrong.

DD is 3yr 8 months - DS is 6 months

Hi,i have a four month old and i sussed out walkers and asked doctors and my advice is dont even go there. It can cause problems with their back and even affect walking and posture later on.There have been so many reports of accidents,my neice fell over and got a black eye.Its not natural for their growing bodies either. Most books will discourage the use of them these days.People used to use them, but like everything, its only after time and lots of use you see the results.Like,in 20-30 years time we will see the results of mobiles(phones).Time tells all.
Instead of getting a walker that supports their whole body, why don't you get one that they can just stand up on and push along. I have two of these for my daughter and she picks and chooses which one she wants and when she has had enough of walking she just gets down.
