Paediatric surgeon for hypospadias Rss

Hi,
My DS4, who is 4W old now, has hypospadias. At birth his penis looked very normal with intact foreskin. When he was 2W old he had circum. done at that time the doc. told me that he has mild form of hypospaidas where the urerthral opening not at the tip of the penis but on the underside and he reffered me to paediat. I saw the paed. once and said to me that I need to see a paediatric surgeon to get the problem fixed. I am really worried about it . I have another 2 boys . never heard of hypospadias before. if anyone has heard of the condition or reccommend paed. surgeon in Sydney will be really appreciated. Also if you have a baby had the surgery done before please write about your experience.
Regards
Kate
Hi Kate.
Have you had any luck?
I am in Darwin and my son had his op 2 weeks ago. We dont have a paediatric Urologist up here so I had to have a vising Dr do the op. He did a wonderful job. I think he is from Melb. Dr Alan Woodward. Max is 14months old, so older than I would have liked. I wanted to have him Cir. but at birth the MW noticed and I was told not to in case they needed his foreskin for repairs. I guess I am curious, if you had the op done, how you went post op? I went to the GP today just to have a look because he is not seeing his follow up dr until next week (3 weeks post op) and I thought that was a long time. She pushed the foreskin back - which I have been too scared to do, and there was a lot of smegma there. So when I got home I tried too and tried to clean it. I freaked out and thought the head of his penis was going to fall off! (I am sure it is fine, but I saw the incision mark and got scared!) I just wanted to know how you have gone with cleaning and how long the healing took for you to feel comfortable to give it a good old clean smile
thanks
Liza
Hi Liza
Glad to hear your son is doing well, as this gives me a hope that my son will do well as well.
My son hasn't have the surgery yet. I am going to see the paediatric surgeon at end of this month. I've done alot of search on the net about the condition and I believe my son has a rare form of hypospaidas where the skin is intact and we only discovered it after the circum., called megameatus hypospadias, I will see prof. Andrew Holland in Sydney and he will decide of what to do.
please see this link I found it during my search , it may help you with the post operative care.

I hope everything goes well with your son and please keep us updated of his progress.

Wow small world smile Dr. Alan Woodward was my daughters urologist at royal childrens hospital in melbourne. His team operated on my DD2 when she was 9 weeks. At our last appointment with him, he told us he'll be semi retiring in june/july this year & he'll only be working in his private clinic so we'll be seeing a new urologist from now on sad
hi guys, just found this i think my son 14mths has just been referred to same doctor, dr allen woodward in melb. we are in the country and not sure if it is the same thing but the local gp said we needed to see a specialist my boys testicle is alot larger than the other one and they said it is a build up of fluid that will need to be drained etc.. did this happen to either of you at all. and are you happy with him ?

He was great! But he's semi-retired now & only works in his private clinic. The new team at the childrens hospital in melbourne are fantastic too!

I have 2 girls so have no info to give you regarding your son lol, but hope its an easy fix.
