sounds like she needs homeopathic remedies internally, i have 2 boys and only use these for coughs and they work fast and quick but u have to get the right remedy for the symtoms. my son had a awful virus with a cough until he was sick and within a few hours of taking Pertussin remedy he had stoped the vomiting and that night was the first night he didnt wake coughing and them vomiting.good luck
How much dairy is she having? I find that my DD gets a phlegmy cough when she has too much dairy so I have to limit it to 1 or 2 serves a day instead of the 3 or 4 I used to give her (cause she loves yoghurt!!!). Apparently dairy helps produce phlegm. It wouldn't be as simple as this, but in conjunction with the other things you are trying it might help.
This is exactly the same as my DD.. She is 10 and a half months and about 2-3 months ago she got a cold and with it came a cough and fever, her temps were pushing on 39 so went to the doc and he said she had an ear nose and throat infection but it hadn't turned to a chest infection at that point.. He prescribed amoxicillin and all it did was bring her fever down, the runny nose eventually went but the cough persisted..
I was getting up to her about 7 times a night because of her cough, it was like as if she had something stuck in her throat and would cough to the point of gagging and vomiting.. This kept up for about 8 weeks and the fever came back so I booked in with my normal gp (the previous doc was medical centre) but I had to take her to the hospital before my app cos her temp shot up to 39.6... I told the doc at the hospital about her persistent cough but he was adamant that there was nothing wrong with her!!! Even with her ridiculous temp he said she was fine??
Anyways I wanted a second opinion (and for this cough to go away) so back to the medical centre but the doc that saw her was an even bigger retard than the one at the hospital!! He prescribed her some antibiotics (diff to the first but can't remember the name) and a ventolin and got her throat swabbed to test for whooping cough, although I told him I was sure it wasn't whooping cough he didn't listen, then I tried to ask if it wasn't whooping cough, would that antibiotic clear up the cough she had but the idiot didn't know what I was trying to say!!
Anyways so 3 months on, my daughter STILL has a cough, the results came back negative but it isn't as bad as it was before... She is sleeping thru the night again now and I haven't changed a thing, the fits just seemed to subside on their own... Some days are worse, some days she will hardly cough at all...
Sorry this didn't really help you in any way but I feel your frustration and maybe I can get some answers too without having to pump more drugs into her poor little body..
