Sores in neck folds Rss

My DD2 is nearly 4 months and getting to be quite chubby smile. She has started getting sores inbetween the folds of her neck. They can be a bit smelly and red. I wash and dry her really well and have been putting bepanthen cream on it. It clears up for a day but by night it's there again.

She is at the stage where she is constantly dribbling and chewing on things so the area is hard to keep dry during the day. I put bibs on and try to keep her dry as possible but it's a never ending supply of drool. tongue

Just wanting any ideas of what i can do or what creams/ lotions to put on. Any help would be great.

BTW she is not worried by them in the slightest and I can clean and poke at them and she doesn't even flintch.

Thanks.

Hi smile

My DD gets them too, its normal. I just wash and dry then put a bit of cornflour on it and it heals up in no time smile The cornflour takes the moisture out of it helping it to heal

Putting some sudocream might help more as it provides a bit of a waterproof barrier.

Sounds like you're onto it though!

agree with the sudocream, that stuff works for everything!!

we alternated sudocream and baby powder
Thanks ladies. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Will keep going and maybe get some sudocream.

DD1 never got it, but she wasn't this chubby and was a winter baby so didn't have the heat and sweat to deal with.

Thanks again. smile

I think you are doing the right things. I would probably do a layer of bepathen first and then a layer of sudocream as I find bepathen is good for healing and sudocream good for protection. Personally I dont like powders as I have read that some fugus' can live on cornflour - but I could be wrong on that..

I too been having the same problem but with my 8 week old. i tried the bepanthan and yes it worked but re surfaced few days ago. the key is to dry it completley...difficult i know. ive recently started bathing her every day and ive no need to apply any cream now. although i do swear by sudocream and use it elsewhere. good luck x
I have a chubby little bubba (5 1/2 mths & 11.3kgs). And I had the same problem, I use a cream called Hydrozole from the chemist, It cleared it up within 2 days & she hasnt had it since... Bepanthen is good but just be aware it can also feed the rash
Hi, I had same thing with my baby. I washed, dried and put curash powder on the crease, and had cleared in two days. I'm guessing the Cornflour does a similar thing.

Yes, the cornflour does a similar thing, just cheaper. The first time my DD got them, I sort of panicked and called my mum who said to use cornflour once they had been cleaned. I have had a couple of friends tell me that since. Works a treat too!

Once its healed, put vasoline on the area and this will help stop the saliva irritating the skin. I did this when DD1 was teething and never had an issue with a rash. GL =)
We had the same problem with both my DDs - we called it 'the cheese factory'! As a lot of the others have said, some sort of soothing cream followed by a barrier type cream worked the best. I found that a powder dried it out too much and the skin cracked with DD#2, but then she is prone to eczema so has super sensitive skin.
Ditto to all of the above but, keep an eye on it as it can get infected. My eldest had the same problem that went on for about two months and it wouldn't go away. She ended up getting an infection but with antibiotic cream it went away in two days.
