Ringworm I think? Rss

There is a spot on DD's upper thigh (almost her bottom) that looks suspiciously like ringworm (from what I can tell from google pics) - it is about the size of a 5 cent piece, and has a dull red outline but is normal skin colour in the middle. Is this something that needs a gp's once over, or can I get treatment from the chemist? She has had it for a week now and it's not going away but she hasn't got any other spots either.

My DD1 had what I thought was ring worm. I took her to the GP but it probably wasn't necessary. I was told to put put Lamasil anti fungal cream on once a day for 7 days and if it's ring worm it would be gone. If not then it may need a cortisone cream or other treatment. It wasn't ring worm so it needed a low dose cortisone to clear up as it was getting bigger.

The anti fungal can be bought over the counter at the chemist. Hope it clears up. smile

Thanks Mum2Em&Madi I have just come back from the chemist with my Lamasil so we will see how that goes!

Hi Tutu & lulu, yep I told the chemist where it was, he wasn't concerned because it's not that close to her bottom, more the upper thigh really. Good point though, I wouldn't want to make anything worse! Will keep in mind the thing you said about it disappearing and drawing a line, very helpful thankyou heaps!
