How long did it take you to get back to your desired sports? Rss

My lil boy is due in 13 weeks (he's my first), before i fell preg i was a wakeboarder and i LOVE the sport, sad to say my board to me is like an extra limb, it has been the thing i miss the most about being preg and am dying to be back on the water, Just wondering how long it took you all to get back into doing the sports you love after bubs?

(please don't take my love for my sport as me not thinking my bub comes first, i've had a few people suggest that i don't care and that my baby should come first which he does! i have found this kind of comment insulting)

Im a major sports junkie too!!! LOVE wakeboarding and waterskiing!!! and my winter thing is netball. I started back at netball 8 weeks after having DD1 (and I had a csection) my fitness didnt take long to come back at all.
I started water skiing again in the summer and could still do the slalom course straight off the dock.
My DD2 was born in Sep and I had my first wakeboard on boxing day- no problems could still do the same tricks as before smile

Ive always been really fit and I think if this is the case the recovery is quick. I also do lots of running (when I get the time!!) so that helps too smile

there twats in my opinion lol! You def need you time and do something that makes you happy!! After DS2 I was back at the gym when he was 6weeks old. I would have gone back earlier but the gym didnt allow bubs younger than 6 weeks. Best thing I did!! kept me sane, help shift the baby weight and I got the little time to my self. I also found it kept my hormones in line! Everybody heals at different times but just take things slow and build it up.

All the best with the rest of your pregnancy!

I agree with the others...exercise is definitely a must after bubs is born it really helps you with every aspect of your life!

I went back playing netball and volleyball 8 weeks after my DS (episiotomy) and only 3 weeks with my DD! You will know when your body is feeling strong enough and when you feel like you can leave your baby for more than 1 minute lol!

Good luck on the birth.
Thanks guys i had been thinking it might take me around 4/5 - 8 weeks depending (fingers crossed for natural though) can't wait to get back to exercise i have felt my fitness drop incredibly since falling preg!

haven't tried slalom yet but the couple we go out with are slalom skiers, been thinking about trying it grin we are lucky enough that where i live i can still board in the winter (well sort of my partner thinks i'm nuts but for some reason the cold doesn't bother me as long as i get to board! lol)

My husband thinks Im nuts too as I dont care what the temp is either!!! but not lucky enough to ski in the winter here!
Slalom is addictive if you're a competitive kind of person! Im lucky enough that DH use to ski for NZ when he was a teenager so have had expert coaching and he's always excited to see me do well smile and he's happy to drive and drive for me while I practise!
You'll be amazed how quick your fitness will come back the only trouble is finding the time and managing to get out when you have a baby ... and its even harder with 2 !!!!
