I gave birth to my son 10 weeks ago and since then I have had nothing but problems down there..The other day it was quite painful in my vaginal area so I had a look and I saw a lump there..I went to the doc straight away as I was freaking out and turns out it is a cyst, he gave me antibiotics and 2 days later it is still pretty sore, has anyone had these before? How long did it take to feel better? I've heard you sometimes have to get them drained..don't even want to think about that! The doctor didn't really explain much as it was a Sunday and I think he was in a hurry :-/ Any info would be appreciated!

If I think what I think it is, it's known as a bartholin cyst. I had it years ago, yes very painful. I think I was operated on one side as it was bad and then the other when that flared up just burst before anything could be done.

Happy to say I haven't had any problems since.

I hope the docs can do something for you as soon as smile Once it's gone or cleared you will feel much better, trust me. Nothing worse than having a very sore you know what sad

I had one of those when I was in my late teens, very scary, but after a couple of courses of antibiotics it was completely gone. After the first lot of antibiotics failed there was mention of surgery, but with stronger antibiotics it was gone in a few days. I've never had any trouble since.

If it's still sore and hasn't started shrinking in another day or two, you should probably go back to the doctor and try to get stronger antibiotics and some proper information, it's very slack of him not to talk you through it all properly.

I really hope you feel better soon, it's such an unpleasant experience, and I can't imagine going through it with a new baby too. Take care of yourself

Thanks Katy, good to know after it didn't get better the stronger antibiotics helped! and that it didn't come back! It is feeling a little better now i think and it hasn't gotten any bigger that I know of so fingers crossed it comes right! Thanks smile
