mastitis AGAIN booooooo! =( Rss

yup mastitis has reared its ugly head...AGAIN!

this is the 3rd time with just this child ive had it numerous times with the other 2 aswell. done everything...but ive got a fever and my boobs all red and blotchy and so so so sore, even the tiny bit of bounce hurts when i walk!

stupid boobs sad can being tired and sleep deprived contribute to getting mastitis? because otherwise im healthy and bubs been feeding fine.

but on the plus side we just signed and confirmed our wedding venue grin so excited 9 months to go!
Aww that sucks. But YAY for the wedding.

I've had mastitis a few times with this bub too. Never got it with DD1 but can't even count the number of blocked ducts i've had to clear before the mastitis set in. It's awful so I feel your pain. Sounds like some antibiotics might be needed now though.

Not sure what is causing mine as DD2 is still feeding great, but maybe she just positions differently than DD1 did.

Hope it clears up for you soon it's so painful. sad

Oh hun Big hugs to you XXXXX I hope it clears up for you soon smile

But Yay about booking your wedding venue!!!!!
Oh that sucks!! Hope it clears up for you!!! Have you got antibiotics???

Definitely exciting about the wedding!!!

getting antibiotics this arvo *sigh*
Oh poor you, mastitis really hurts!! I had it once with DD2, and a friend told me to get some homeopathic drops, and as soon as I feel it coming on to take a couple of drops and it would not go on to develop into full blown mastitis. Well I don't mind telling you how sceptical I was, I mean, really, homeopathic stuff doesn't work...does it...???? Well I was in so much pain (and bub was not appreciating the antibiotics either, I decided I had nothing to lose, got a bottle... and guess what...?! It cleared up in no time, I could enjoy feeding my girl again - AND when ever I felt it coming on again, I took 2 drops (literally, that is all) and never got it again. Apparently once you have had it once, you are susceptible to get it again for as long as you are feeding that bub.(Sorry, you prob don't want to hear that!!)
Anyway, if you are interested to know what the drops were called I can easily find the bottle and let you know!!
hope you are feeling LOTS better sooooooooon! smile

sorry to hear that you have mastitis again - one of the suckiest things about birth/breastfeeding for sure!!!

I had it reoccurring for the first 3-4 months before I figured out what was causing it! I had seen dr after dr. I had noticed a tiny white dot on my nipple and asked dr's about it - they said it was nothing and completley unrelated. I finally got so sick of it - I started looking on the internet for causes. Found out it was something called a milk blister/milk bleb and spoke to the ABA (Australia breastfeeding association) and they gave me ways to treat it and it stopped my mastitis from ever reoccuring!

I ended up feeding from just the one side due to the mastitis reoccurring all the time. My milk supply from the right was never the same - but we made it to 12 months on the one boob! smile

Good luck hun with the antibiotics. And keep going - you are doing an amazing job!! It's hard to keep wanting to go when you face such a uncomfortable problem as mastitis hey!!?

Absolutely... it is: BELLADONNA 30C PHYTOLACCA 30C.
And I paid $8.80 for the dropper bottle, have now used it for 2 bubs and still have alot left, so it really is worth the 'investment'!!!
Hope you are feeling much better soon, and would love to hear if you try this. Good luck!
It is horrible isnt it? sad

Did you know that if you stop at the first sign of mastitis starting, ring your DH tell him the house is going to be a mess and ask him to bring home dinner then put you feet up for the day, and the next just go slow you can shake it off? You need to watch dvds with the kids, do lots of feeding from that breast, relax, drink lots and just get up to do toileting and food for the kids..... this is what did.

This is a link from an article that I have just read and found very informative. It also supports the idea of using belladonna and phytolacca to support and help your system.

My blog, take a peek into my world

I had problems with blocked ducts with my first bub, I had to work very diligently to prevent problems further developing. I struggled with this for a while (couple of months), and then found that it just stopped.

Looking back, I realised that it stopped shortly after I started wearing an amber necklace (bought purely to match my daughter's teething necklace, as I thought it would be cute if we had the same necklace). I was surprised, but incredibly relieved at such a simple solution.

I would only suggest that an amber necklace would help as a preventative, and that you should of course do everything you need to to clear up the current case of mastitis. Perhaps an amber necklace will only work in mild cases of blocked ducts etc, I don't know. But you can be assured that I haven't stopped wearing it (despite having stopped breastfeeding DD), and I will be wearing it all through breastfeeding my next bub too!

All the very best of luck clearing it up!
thanks for that, i think ill drop into the local healthfood/natropath store tomorrow, i think its too late for it this time around, antibiotics seem to be kicking in now (thank god)

but ill definately have some of that belladonna mix to help prevent getting it again, which it seems im prone to this time around.

i hadnt thought of an adult amber necklace...it seems to help my bubs teeth so maybe worth a shot, and if not its still cute lol
