Weaning 6 month old off dummy Rss

we have a 6 month daughter, things have not been easy as she has severe food allergies to diary & soy which went undiagnosed for 4 months. She was basically allergic to me & I was going crazy with this extremely unsettled child with a terrbile stomach ache!! Imagine having diaorreha, vommiting and sores coming out your bottom that would bleed for 4 months!!
anyway this caused major sleep issues for us and the only way managed to get her to sleep was to give her a dummy & wrap her in a zip & velcro mum2mum wrap.
This worked, but the only way we have managed to wean her off the wrap is to sleep her on her stomach, she would just play with her hands otherwise.
This has worked great for us despite what plunket say, she is very good at going to sleep. Day sleeps are great - anywhere from 1 - 2 hours, 2 - 3 times per day.

NIGHT time is the worst!!! As she still relies on the dummy, she wakes between 1 & 8 times a night looking for it, if she cant find it, she wakes me up crying to find it for her. I am so tired, I dont mind been woken once or twice if she was hungry, but she literally has her eyes closed, head up, mouth open looking for it. I jam it in and she is back to sleep.
Not so much for me....
ANY TIPS ON WEANING OFF THE DUMMY PLEASE???

we literally went cold turkey on it during the day and then when she had that i went for nights too. its a screamer affair BUT if you stick to your guns then it works faster than weaning (but uses both methods in a sense)...then i threw them in the bin so i didnt go back to it!
WE used a sleep programme called sleep easy solutions to help with our DDs sleep, which was bad partly from waking up and not being able to find her dummy. The DVD said to put lots of dummies in the bed with her and that way she can find one herself during the night and put it in herself. DD is 11months old now and doesnt wake during the night anymore. Though eventually we will have to wean her off the dummy, but I dont see the need for it just yet, as it can be a life saver sometimes.
