Please help - waking through night Rss

Sorry I know this subject has probably been done before but I was after some advice about helping my 5 months, 3 weeks old old baby sleep through the night.

He is waking up every 2 hours for us to replace his dummy. Once we replace it he goes back to sleep for another 1.5 to 2 hours.

He was sleeping through the night from 3 months. His last feed was at 8pm and he was sleeping through until 6.00am.

When he turned 5 months he started waking up twice a night for feeds, which I gave him. (BF)

He recently started solids, which he loves and is having two meals a day.

Since solids started I now only feed him at 5.00am when he wakes.

Anyone got some good ideas on how we can stop this? I suppose we could go cold turkey and take the dummy away but I've never been good with hearing him cry and he is sharing our room, (we are renting a small house for a temporary period) .

What have you done to help with this??? Any ideas appreciated.
I wouldn't leave him to cry, I would try not replacing the dummy and patting him back to sleep. Might be hard on you the first few nights but better in the long run when he learns to sleep without it

take the dummy away if i was you - i had one with my DD (now 3) and struggled to ditch it and eventually had to go cold turkey with her (but she was old enough to find it) and even now she will pick up other kids dummys and suck them.

due with DD2 in the next few weeks and DEFINATELY NOT having a dummy again!!

they are good but kiddies get a addicted to them too easy IMO

but if your not using the dummy you will have to find another way to non ivasivly comfort him, like other person said - patting their back. id even give a lullulby a shot - worked for me =)
I can't give you any advice on dummies as my DD didn't have one but have you tried playing music? I used a white noise CD with DD from when she was really little, which worked wonders, and as she got older we graduated on to a lullaby CD. It really calms her down quickly and helps get her back to sleep. I hope that helps.
It may also be a phase DD is just a teeny bit older than your bub & we have just been through the same thing.. I didnt know what was going on until I posted about a similar thing & some of the Huggies Angels (Mums) said that they tend to go through a phase around this time because thier sleep patterns change... I ended up with DD Co-Sleeping again for a couple of weeks so I could give her dummy back to her without her waking fully... Im not suggesting to do the same thing, But I just wanted you to know that your not alone on this one smile (DDs night waking lasted about 2 1/2 weeks but she is getting back to normal now)
I am the same as a PP. We never had a dummy for DS, but did play music. Maybe give that a try?
Hi there, thanks so much for all of you replies. We have tried a combination of your suggestions, and last night he only woke the one time. Yah for sleep! Will keep trying the music as I think he likes that. So hoping its a phase as he was such a great sleeper before this!!!
we took away the dummy and replaced it with a cuddly(we've got about 6) - much easier to grab, and we started to do a dream feed at about 10/10.30 to get that little bit longer. Took a couple of nights but he went back to normal.

hi my dd1 has a dummy and when she woke for it we went into her room and used her hand with ours on top to search for it and put it in her mouth and after a while we no longer had to go in as she could do it on her own.
A mum in my mums group was giving her baby boy a dummy every 40 mins during the night so she was told to get rid of it and dont replace it with anything, So she did and he is a much better sleeper now. Of course it was hard for the first few nights but when he woke she would pat him back to sleep and when he got used to not having a dummy he slept so much better.
