controlled crying Rss

how long is it ok to let my 5 month old cry, not major distressed crying but more than a grizzle? trying to get her to self settle of a night and I'm pulling my hair out.
and will this achieve anything?
Babies cry less when you go to them straight away.Do the controlled crying if you like but your baby will just learn that you cant support his emotional needs.I never let my baby cry for any amount of time before going to her ,she is now 7 months and hardly crys at all.
Also i co sleep , half way through the night when my baby wont go back to sleep as soon as shes right close to me she falls to sleep straight away.I feel they have plenty of time to get trained to sleep in there own bed when they are older and can handle being alone better.
people don't reccomend CC on babies that young.
you could look at sleepstore
they can give you heaps of suggestions on how to help bubs settle from different forms of CC to no crying sleep solutions.
also at 5months(and 10months) babies change their sleeping pattern and can leave them unsettled for a bit. They can start to wake after every sleep cycle.
