Sorry might be the wrong place to post this, baby is due the start of April, i live in the Bay of Plenty in NZ, so it's reasonably cold. but not snowy or anything.

I am wondering how many blankets / duvets should i buy?? It may sound stupid but i really have no idea, i was thinking on decent fairdown duvet and maybe three or four fleece/cellular blankets so i alwasy have a few spare???

Our house is warm and we have a fire with a heat transfer kit so it won't be freezing in the babies room.

What do you think???

Even though i live in Australia now i know what its like back in NZ and took my DD back during the winter.

SO if you are going to swaddle baby my suggestion would be, a full onesie with the mittens, then swaddle in a fleece wrap, then use top sheet and i had a brightbots fleece blanket, due to its size you can double it over.

Maybe have a couple of cellular blankets on hand, they come in handy during spring and summer.

Once you stop wrapping bubs use a sleeping bag.

Due to sudden infant death, they say to avoid duvets/doonas and quilts.

Avoid Fleece and Duvets - they can cause baby to over heat.

Dressing babies body in layers is a great way to keep baby warm. So a merino all in one plus a cotton all in one. A wrap. And 1 cellular blanket folded in 2 will be warm enough for a baby who is sleeping in a room at 18 degrees - which is the temp you need to try and maintain.

So I would buy 3 cellular blankets - one in use, one in the wash and one spare.

When you stop wrapping baby usually around 4 or 5 months then you can get some lovely merino sleeping bags and you won't require any blankets at all.
