Wiggly sleeper?!!!! Rss

I'm sure I can't be the only mum with this problem! My 8 month old has become a 'wiggly' sleeper. He has slept all night from around 6-8 weeks, technically he still does however some nights he is waking up up to 6 times per night grizzling, as he's 'wiggled' his way to the top of the cot and is banging his head. As soon as I move him back down the cot he is quiet as a mouse and seems to be asleep during the whole process!. He hates to be wrapped and isn't overly keen on bedding he just throws it off, always has. Does anyone have any suggestions on keeping him still?
I can definitely relate - my DS2 (age 4) has periodic limb movement disorder, he was diagnosed at 18 months via a sleep study. He's still in a toddler bed, simply because he moves around so much, he falls out of bed most nights and at least this way he doesn't have far to fall. He just rolls over on the floor and goes back to sleep. It's not such a problem in summer but during the colder months he often wakes up cold overnight. When he was a baby he wore sleeping bags all the time for bed, it was the best thing ever because at least I knew he'd stay warm. Now we can't do that so he just wears singlets under his jammies. I've given up trying to stop him moving! It's got to the point of causing iron deficiency, so we just treat that when it becomes a problem and put him to bed earlier when he's getting tired during the day a lot (because his sleep is often disrupted he needs more of it sometimes). Not saying your DS might have this by the way, just sharing my experience smile

I don't know what sort of cot barriers or anything like that might be safe to use, but if you find something that is SIDS approved maybe to put at the top of his cot to cushion him if he bangs his head? Other than that I would suggest sleeping bags to keep him warm! My DS didn't like being wrapped either and this was a great solution for us.
No no suggestions sorry but I have one of those little worms too! It's so funny sometimes finding him squished in one corner with his head down, arms at his side, but knees tucked in and his little bum sticking up in the air!

It's so cute when they sleep with their bums up in the air lol smile
Unfortunatley none on keeping him still as lets face it kids are wriggly worms some times no matter how hard you try!!! We used a sleeping bag with DD, at first she wasnt so keen as it was something new, but now she loves it and doesnt like to sleep without it! its not constricting like wrapping them up but makes sure they have less movement and keeps them warm
Maybe that is worth a go!

They do look adorable sleeping bum up smile I think I'll try him in the sleeping bag see how he goes!
Its worth a shot and there are summer and winter ones too so they are really handy!!
Hope it helps him! wink

Hi ladies, just thought I'd let you know that bub has been sleeping in a sleeping bag for a week now and not only is he toasty warm but he is back to sleeping right through the night! And is much happier through the day without all the broken sleep! Thank you for your help smile
