Highchairs Rss

Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone else has similar problems with their highchair...
I have a 'childcare' brand highchair, with a soft seat/back and large tray like most highchairs (but different to the hard plastic ikea style one). I chose this over the smaller, hard plastic ones as they just seem so much more comfy. But at 11 months old my bub (who is tall for his age) still has trouble seeing what is on the tray and reaching for it. It was fine when he was just eating mush, but I realised it wasn't so good once I started putting finger food on the tray for him to pick up. Does anyone else have this problem? The reason I'm asking is because my mum-in-law and I designed and made a seat and back cushion to fit in the highchair and it's great, i love it - he can now see and reach his food easily. They made of foam with an easily cleaned plastic covering and removable/washable fabric covers. I am wondering if others have similar problems as I think there may possibly be a market for this. What do you think?? Would it be something mothers who have these types of highchairs would consider buying if they were sold on ebay? Would love to hear your feedback.
Thanks heaps!
Carmen.
As a mum of a child very small for her age i certainly would buy one as long as it wasn't to expensive. I'm currently using a blow up neck pillow to boost up my little one in her chair. If you do decide to market them you'll have to post something on this web site so people know where to find it. Good luck with your idea.

I was just saying this to DH about DS2 this evening, I am going to make up some sort of sling seat and booster type arrangement for him to sit on to help him.

I do think there would be a market for something like that
This sounds great. you might also be able to use it for their discovery centre's or walkers or similar as my little one wobbles around a little too much in that too (we use a rolled up towel, but are constantly washing it due to the slobber!).
ABSOLUTELY!! My daughter is 13 months and we still have problems with her being to small for her high chair, we have used cushions but they are hard to clean, rolled up towels but if she spills something its an operation to replace the wet towel, a phone book but she kept slipping off it, and many more other bits and pieces we think of at any given time!!! i think your idea would definately be practical and efficient providing it was affordable, otherwise the cushion, towel etc would keep on being the alternative til she is big enough to sit in it unboosted!!
Thanks so much for your replies....We are almost in business! YAY! We've been busy finding cute fabrics, cutting foam and sewing, and are just working out prices so should be up and running in a week or so. I will post a link here when we are ready to go if that's okay to do that??? Does anyone know?
Thanks again!

Thanks again for your help and feedback!
Cheers,

I have a big highchair that is awful for my little guy. I went camping on the weekend and used a friends plastic ikea one, MUCH better for him!! I am getting mum to bring me one when she visits (no ikea around here), it is also very hard to clean the fabric seats, so the ikea one will be a breeze in the cleaning stakes!!
Yes we have had the same problem with our highchair being to big for bub, however I do prefer it over the ikea style ones at least when they are younger as I think they seem so much more comfortable then the hard plastic ones. That's why we created the HIGH CHAIR CUSHIONS. My little boy is one now and still needs the cushions - they're working a treat! smile
And having covers that are easy to remove and wash makes life easier too!

P.S. Come check out my HIGH CHAIR cushions & let me know what you think!
