Baby Led Weaning
I'm looking for some advice on baby led weaning. I'm really not sure what to feed DD Ive fed her slices of banana and avocado so far but don't really know what else? Ideas?
Hi there,
soft fruits (think melon, berries etc - whatever she can squish with her gums) or veg (you can steam/roast/boil the veg
beans/peas (once she can pick them up on her own)
once on top of that sort of stuff you can head down the road of more processed things such as cooked pasta/toast etc
here are some good sites

Thanks smile I never thought of melon! I bought some steam bags today so I can do some vegies. I was thinking of Zucchini but I'm not sure if I should leave the skin on or off?
Hello hello, smile
Messy time! But we are having lots of fun.
We wash any fruits/vegies etc carefully and leave the skin on. It gives a bit of substance to the finger food so it doesn't squish up so quickly. For example, we left the skin on the avocado slices until DS2 could pick up smaller pieces. With stone fruits like nectarines and peaches and plums, he ends up sucking off all the fruit, leaving behind a clean skin. Same with zucchini (steamed) and cucumber. This was amazing the first time I saw it. I have to be careful and check his mouth after he's finished as he sometimes stores a large piece of skin in there (a snack for later? tongue ) He prefers Chinese broccoli over normal broccoli (maybe the texture?).
He loves to suck on a piece of meat: we leave it quite big so he gets the feel and taste but doesn't necessarily swallow a lot. Lamb cutlets are his fav! He can hold the bone and have a chew. I usually feed DS1 some of the meat first as the cutlets are so expensive. We also do toast fingers.
I also put big blobs of steamed rice, greek yoghurt or canned salmon/tuna and he has a go. Heaps in the hair but lots in the mouth too!
