My 12 mth old boy will not only eat rice cakes as finger foods. He is a good eater if Im feeding him, has three meals a day and a rice cake for afternoon. Ive tried all sorts of fruit/veg/some meats to no avail. He eitehr cracks the poops or throws them on the floor. The only time he will eat 'finger' food is when I break a piece of and put it into his mouth and he will eat it. Help!
My 12 mth isnt interested in finger foods!
if he doesn't eat the finger food do you then go and feed him the food yourself everytime? if you do I would say thats why he's not likeing finger food because he knows he'll crack it and you'll feed him.
I personally offer DS his food, I will feed him a bit of some stuff - breakfast etc(feed 1/4 of bowl) just because he's still a bit iffy using the spoon by himself, but other wise its all finger food and if he doesn't eat it, he doesn't eat it, I don't offer an alternative.(be it other food or me feeding him)
Your DS has shown he CAN eat finger food - eating rice crackers- but chooses not to. he won't starve himself, so if it was me, I give him a plate/bowl with a couple of alternatives (not too much that he's overwhelmed) and if he doesn't eat it don't stress, just leave it till next meal/snack time and try again.
