8month old switch Rss

so i read on the watties plunket sheet they give u that at about 8months ur meant to swap bubs feeding around so they have meals 1st then a bottle.
how do i do this?
hes started waking around 630-7am n has a bottle then another about1030 and has his lunch about 11 then about 230 has another bottle then another bottle about 630 n dinner about 7.

cause if i give his bottle after his solids he wont drink it. i know this cause if he has his solids too close to his next bottle he wont drink bugger all.

so i was just wondering how i would go about doing this??
It's just a general rule to go by and personally we never have followed it...

With our 10 m.o she has a BF at 6ish, breakfast at 7/7:30, BF at 10, lunch after nap at around 12/1ish, BF at 2:30/3ish, dinner at 6 and BF before bed at 7.

So it's pretty similar to what you are doing and if it's working stick with it. I think they tell people to do milk first because otherwise people might fill their babies up with solids which are not as nutritionally important as milk

When he wakes up, does he prefer a bottle? When i daughter was that age she prefered her bottle, then id give her brekkie about 2 hours later. I think you'll just have to play around and see what times he likes to have brekkie?

good luck!
^^^I agree, work out what works for you, I think the reason they say to do food first is because that starts to become the main source of nutrients instead of the milk.
I think from memory we did this
6am milk
7.30 breakie
10ish milk
12ish lunch
then milk around 2
dinner 5
milk 7
DS would only sleep for 45min stretches so we could easily do this but some people might not be able to with longer naps. I just made sure there was a gap between the bottle and food so that the milk was more like a snack I guess.

I made the transition slowly with my girl, started when she was 8 months, she wasn't very keen on the idea of solids before she had her milk, but I started with just one meal and slowly changed it so that by 10 months she was having her meals and then bottle about half hour after meals. It does make it easier once they have the solids first to wean them from bottle to cup.

Good luck smile
